Weird noises from a 9n

Featured Replies

I am new to club polo, I bought a 2004 Volkswagen polo 9n back in may 2011 and have only just started driving it propally (on real roads, rather than private land) and I have noticed a squeaky noise coming from the front passenger side, sometimes it sounds like it coming from the passenger side seat an other times it sounds like its coming from the damper/wheel, I have now done quite a lot of miles and the noise persists, also my car seems to have hardly any caster, as when I corner and let go of the steering wheel it dosnt even attempt to centralise

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Liam

Squeaking noise could be anything. Firstly check your brake pads are free from the disc, including your handbrake not dragging. If all good, check front springs, they might be slightly out of place and can cause a squeaking noise if not seated correctly. If thats ok i'd start getting under the car and shake all components on the front end. Eg/ trackrod ends, driveshafts, anti roll bars, cv joints, etc etc.

Just thought... It could easily be a wheel bearing so check that first. Has the noise increased noise wise?2

Brakes appear to be fine, front springs seem to be in good condition and are seated correctly, I havnt managed to have time to get under the car and check the parts, also it dosnt get worse it just makes the noise anytime The car has any body roll, could it be a drop link maybe ? Cause when I first took it for a drive it was making a knocking noise but after about 5 miles it developed into a squeak and I always had a hunch that it was the drop link ??

And thanks very much for the help buddy

Suspension bushes? Although this is more a creaking/squeaking over bumps and cornering... 9N is known for eating them...75k and I'm on the my third set...
