so after lowering my 6n2 gti on shocks and springs, either 60/60 or 60/ 50, the knocking noise and rubbing noise hasnt stopped even after, sterring rack was centred and car was tracked.

mechanic says its too low at front so i gotta get longer springs?

question is what size springs shall i get for the front to avoid the right wheel rubbing with the wishbone and the whole rubbing noise to stop?

I'm sure other people have had issues with this on a 6n2 gti?

If its coming from the front right it's your driveshaft on the chassis leg. Needs a notch!

Then it's your driveshaft off the chassis leg. You will need to get a notch cut out of the chassis leg

Wouldnt of said you need a notch at 60mm, I'm down around 90mm at the front and only just get my chassic hitting.

so took it to the garage and explained that it could be the leg hitting the shaft, so he said bring it in tommorow and he will check it first, and if he sees any rubbing scraping or damage then he will cut the leg , otherwise he dont see a point?

If you turn you car on full lock and have a look drivers side you'll be able to see for yourself if the driveshaft is anywhere near the chassis.

my brother bring your tape measure cuz I'm baffled my self lol, wheel was rubbing on lower wishbone before on the right,

not sure about the ball joint???

the inside of the right front wheel, but he said its been sorted as he centred the rack and tracked it and sorted camber out, i still think its rubbing, will have another look at that tommorow to see if marks or scrapes have increased,

i was thinking of adding spacers at front to avoid that if that is the case,

but also I'm sure the kit is a phil j 60/40 kit, yet it looks 60/60 and richard the mechanic keeps saying that it could be the front springs have done their time?

yes thats exactly how it is, but people have had theirs 80+mm and had no issues :s

Well I had mine down 103mm compared to a standard one on 12 year old springs and dampers and had no driveshaft issues.

Not sure how your wheel could rub the bottom arm to be honest :s

well richard goes that the lower wishbones meant to be horizontal like this = - - but instead they are like this \ / , basically on a angle upwards, and he says its because its too low,

now this mechanic knows his sh*t he isnt a cowboy but i keep arguin it with him saying it isnt too low and has to be something else

Haha check some build threads and see the angles of their lower arms, yet they don't rub or knock the wheels on the arms :s

Quik update, I thnk we finally got the problem. Upon close inspection the wheel rubing off d wishbone has stopd. Bt the anti rollbar is rubs off the chasis when I full lock or brake or give it power due to literally no clearance between arb and chasis.

So I got two solutions. Get new 40mm front springs or remove the ARB. And I couldnt gt clear pics off my sht phone hence y I explaind in essay style lol.
