my radio signal is so fuzzy hardly can pick anything up I'm wondering if there something wrong with the aerial

What model and year car and is the radio original VW or other make?

It's a polo r erg and no it's not original. Stereo it's a jvc but it work I'n my old car perfectly so not faulting the head unit

Are you using the Blue wire (power ant) wire to power the aerial amp?

All I did was put the arieal wire I'n the back of the headunit I do get a signal but it's fuzzy and breaks up even local radio is the same

The standard aerial base includes an amplifier that is powered by the radio, aftermarket installs need to use the blue electric aerial switched output (blue wire) to power the amp otherwise you will have poor reception

On mine there is an adapter like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290546844402?ru=...1#ht_1835wt_689 and the wire is connected to the blue wire comming from the radio/iso connector

On most radios they have a switched 12v output to control an electric controlled extend/retract aerial and it's normally a Blue wire, Pin 5 of the ISO power connector (A) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connectors_fo...o#Power_.28A.29 connect this to the wire shown in the ebay item, then when you turn the radio on 12v will be fed to the amplifier in the base of the aerial and when the radio is off the power is switched off

If there is a wire in pin 5 connect the wire from the adapter to it.

What is the model of JVC ? I can then check if it does have the power aerial output

Ok here's the install diagrams, you need to connect the wire from the aerial adapter to the Blue with White stripe from the radio

Right I had a look this morning and don't know what this bloke has done before me but it's not the same set up and there's no blue wire coming from the arieal

In that case you will need to get that adapter from ebay

Ok I'll take a pic and show you what I found this morning and tbh i think I could live with it just thought I could fix it as it's one of the minor things left to do on my car
