Sean pen dives head first in to the falkland debate

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/feb/14/s...mp;type=article

"I think that the world today is not going to tolerate any kind of ludicrous and archaic commitment to colonialist ideology."

The people of the falklands want to stay under British rule and they class themselves as British, so surely if the Argentines did take over rule of that place they would be guilty of imperialism over the islanders?

I have a deep hatred for these self-righteous do goody pricks that feel because they have been in a film or sung a song the world now needs their opinion on any 'trendy' causes they can latch on to, seriously what the fuck has this got to do with Sean Penn? Some thing needs to be sorted out soon before angelina jolie and Madonna fly in to steal the islanders children :disgust:

Come the next election I vow to vote for any part that makes being Sean Penn a crime punishable by death

Sorry for the rant but this sort of shit really irritate's me, anyone else get pissed off by this sort of muppet? Or have an opinion on the falklands? Might as well try and turn this into some thing constructive

My browser just shat bricks on that link lol

But yeah what an arse! "the Malvinas Islands of Argentina".

Everyone seems to forget that there are people born and raised on the falkland isles that are fiercely proud to be british!

That's all that matters IMO

I wonder how many polos there are there?

its only an island on the other side of the world

who cares?

its only an island on the other side of the world

who cares?

It's British territory that over 250 soldiers lost their lives to regain it !!! The islanders are British and want to remain loyal to this country, so yes you should care!!!

I've just looked on IMDB to figure out if I've ever seen a film with him in, the only one I have is Mystic River, which was nowhere near as good as the book.

I wonder how many polos there are there?

haha! good reply =] but i would hope so and think so due to the british territory over there. we love polos so they should.....

hmmmm

its ironic you are basically saying he is not entitled to his opinion, just as you have an opinion on him?

For a country that believes in freedom of expression you are trying to deny others that freedom... just because someone is a "celebrity" it doesnt mean they lose that very right... at the same time it doesnt mean that opinion is any more "correct" than anyone elses... just because "they" say something doesnt mean we have to take any notice of it ;)

I'd say the problem isnt with celebrities stating opinions like this (afterall, no publicity is bad publicity right? especially when you havnt worked for years). I'd say the problem was with people who treat what a "celebrity" says as some kind of gospel just becuase a "celebrity" said it... and of course the media who report it.

The only thing ironic about this whole situation is Sean Penn saying that the UK should hand back the falkland islands because they were gained through colonialism.

After his meeting with the Argentine president he will no doubt go back to his massive malibu estate built on land the coloniallist yanks stole from the Mexican people, wonder if he will be handing that back any time soon...

He's entitled to his opinion. Doesn't mean he's not wrong and should STFU though.

  • 2 weeks later...

The convoy of 120 vehicles flying the union jack says it all......

Fuck off argentina.
