insurance quote shot up

Featured Replies

I got a quote on confused.com for my polo, first year driving, first car, 1.3 mk4, suspension and "exterior styling" declared with mum and dad as named drivers

Got a quote for £2417 from postoffice, which i can deal with, specially as i work for Royal Mail i get 10% discount on top of that, however I've just logged on as i couldnt remember the exact amount and it had expired so i refreshed it, using the exact same infomation and its gone up to £3250 :|

HOW???? :@

If thats how its going to be I'm going to have to sell the polo

Anybody have any advice?

seems the only good insurers need a year of driving which rules them out

I'm willing to pay around the 2.5k mark but i think putting it over 3k for a 1.3 with coilovers is an absolute joke when i can get a standard audi a3, 1.9tdi insured for £2800 :S

its a cruel cruel world for new drivers

but a few mates have said insurance companys review every 14 days so the quotes fluctuate constantly, so hopefully its just that and i can get a good price by end of march for fast show with my mates

Oh n would you happen to know if i called to insure on say 20th march would they take first months payment there and then or would it be like end of the month or a few weeks after? just fast show is 23-25th n i dont get paid till 30th :p

Yeah, they normally take a month up front if you're doing it installments. Would you be better off keeping your car standard for the first year?

If you've not modded your polo too much, put it back to standard.. It'll save you a fortune and It'll only be a year before you can mod it..

Get a nectar card and give sainsburys a call, knocked me £500 off for been a nectar card holder! :)

Still fkin paying £1800 though :(

Nah i can afford £3k a year if needs be, just started a new job which pays much better than anything I've had before. Its more the fact it shot up by so much in such little time that annoyed me, but I've calmed down and I've worked around the first month installment so i can go to fast show..... loan from the bank of mum :p 0% interest :p

Do yourself a favour and phone up the individual companies, comparison sites quoted me £2850 for my e30. I phoned up quoteA and it dropped to under a grand. I'm 19 with no no claims and its in my name.
