Fabric folding roof

Removing and installing fabric folding roof complete

Removing

‒ Remove moulded headlining.

=> General body repairs, interior; Repair group 70; Roof trim; Removing and installing moulded headlining

‒ Separate connection on cable drive.

‒ Open fabric folding roof approx. 50 mm.

‒ → Remove clamping frame -1- (24 x Torx T 25).

‒ Pull fabric folding roof with frame upwards out from roof cut-out.

Installing

‒ Insert fabric folding roof into roof cut-out.

‒ → Screw clamping frame onto fabric folding roof (centralize clamping frame in rear corners with both metric torx screws -arrows- then bolt-on from rear, forwards).

Are you sure it is your roof leaking? We had this with one of our open airs. It turned out to be water getting in through one of the screw holes that hold the roof spolier in place?

If it is your roof, dont worry, it is a one man job that takes about 20 minutes to swap the old roof out and put a new one in.

are these roofs ment to have drain holes anywhere the wifes got a y reg openair and i want sort it before we sell it !

Ye my roofs got some big old holes in eat, but the leaking doesnt come directly through the holes, almost as if its getting blocked and then flowing in.

Take the roof lining out and then see where the water is coming in.

Yes i have taken the headling off. i can see where its coming in, its like 3/4 up m from the back and drips in from there.

No they don't have drain holes as the way the system is designed is that any water drains outwards and onto the metal roof. The rain is prevented from entering the car by the raised roof mechanism.

Stevedub are you still wanting a new roof? My wife is getting rid of her OpenAir next month so we have no need for our 3 spare roofs anymore. When we got both of our OpenAirs I bought up lots of good quality roofs incase we got our roof slashed etc.
