engine is now in bits! found so dodgey things:/

firstly i found that the camshaft 3and 4 jernal caps were loose like i mean i didn't even have to put a rachtet on it i just undid them with my finger!

also the casing covering the oil pump chain only had 4 bolts in when there are ment to be 8!

took the pistons out they all look ok a few marks on the skirt of the piston. but it had overheated before i got it

then i had a look at the bores:/

cylinder 4 had a chip in the bore right at the top just above were the compression ring would sit at TDC

and cylinder 2 half of the bore low down has signs corrosion I'm guess the headgasket went at some point and they didn't change it for a little while so it was left sitting around with water in the cylinder so it could eat away at the bore :/

here is a pic:

so I'm gonna have to get it rebored!

so i need to get oversized pistons dose anyone now were i can get them from there is only one size they can rebore it to isn't there with is 1341cc i don't no tbo but if someone could give me some help on this as I've put a post up about forged pistons and they are too much for me to afford so can u get oversized normal pistons. also do anyone know a good place that can rebore as i don't really no any good ones atm hope someone can help!

Cheers! how did you find fitting the subby? really want one for mine!

can get oversized pistons from 75.5mm to 77mm.

or you could have your block sleaved on the sh1t bores?

some of the oil pump casing bolt holes can actually be for the pointer/dowels/cover

got the car welded up this week found another crack in the same chassis leg :( the crack was that bad the leg wasnt actually connected :( the only thing holding that part of the car on was the inner wing :o

so i was lucky that i decided to get the chassis streangthed because i wouldn't of found it as it was under all the under seal

So the ends of the cracks were drilled out to stop them spreading anymore, then welded and plated the first crack that I found ages ago then put two webs on each side chassis leg to bulk head.

BE1E0A7A-5A2B-40F5-8875-6F75BBDB2F60-463

EA3420EB-695C-4080-977C-6E280DCBBEFE-463

battery tray also welded up, bit messy in there will sort that out, battery is going in the boot so the battery support wasnt needed

31AD26E9-BF09-4054-8BFF-0B14877F3F03-463

and the gearbox mount :)

a156c7ea-c50d-4e74-bf53-17bac2ba8e0b_zps

all that cost me £50 :) i can weld my self but i havnt welded in ages. the guy that did this builds roll cages so i knew that it would be strong if he did it!

when i took the subframe off the legs didnt move one bit :) so webbing the legs has help hold it in place alot better as well:)

didnt get time to get pics befor the seam sealer went on sorry.
