Radio controlled things

Featured Replies

Yo.

Have always liked messing around with RC cars but kinda gave up, although I'm just getting back into it.

Everything is so cheap and readily available now, Lipo batts & brushless systems were rare and very expensive before, 2.4ghz radio gear was a thing only really used by people well into it, but it all comes as standard now!

Have had a few cars, currently I have:

Nanda swift 1/8 nitro which I'm selling

X-ray m18t with a lot of mods, currently fitting an 8000kv motor and 11.1v Lipo (88000rpm!) and around 60mph. It's a beast!

Also just bought an FTX vantage brushless, a cheap 1/10 buggy but it comes with 2.4ghz, lipo and brushless! Think it's 3400kv and the batt I currently have is only 7.4v. Turned up today, it's quite good for the money, bit cheap on quality but can't argue. Have charged it and gave it a little run, it's dead punchy, it's wheeling on the standard pack and is 4wd, will be upgrading to 3s lipo (11.1v) but I just snapped a lower arm off so am waiting for parts (less than 10 mins from brand new!)

So yeah, the m18t will be uncontrollable, I'll probably have to put it on 80% power and back the throttle progression right off as will just flip or ruin the drivetrain.

Have had it clocked at 42mph just on 6 cell nihm with a brushed setup, so the brushless and lipo will be unreal.

The vantage will just be getting aluminium upgrades, 3s lipo and probably some road tyres!

In the past Iv owned a few models, my favourite being a traxxas revo nitro, absolutely awesome! Engine had been ported and tuned and it flew! Although the brushless E revo looks unbelievable on 6s lipo, stupidly fast things!

Anyone else interested/got anything exciting?

I'm waiting for araldite to dry as a temp fix on lower arm!

I've got a 1/10 HPI Racing MT2, I got it a couple of years ago and it proved super unreliable so it's now sitting in the basement with half fitted aluminium c-hubs and a missing drive shaft. It ideally needs rebuilt as it constantly pulls to the right and the brake is way out of adjustment and so many of the screws have been replaced with the wrong screws. I'll fix it one day.

Ah yeah I know, the Mt2 is the 4wd of the rush Evo isn't it?

Kind of, I think it was more of the successor to the Rush Evo, I think the Evo was only electric and the MT2 was only nitro, I would love to do an electric conversion on it though. The sound of nitro is cool and all but it's a load of hassle.

Nah rush is nitro too. 1/10 2wd stadium truck.

Yeah brushless is so cheap and available now it's mental! This cheapo RTR buggy i just got (180£) is nippy straight from the box, does about 40 and gets there in about 10 meters haha. With a better batt and gearing altered I'd imagine it'll see 50mph easily lol

Just had a look on eBay and looks like motors at least are pretty cheap but I don't know anything about them, any idea what a motor and speed controller I should go for?

Depends on your budget. Castle creations are the bollocks. Keep an eye out for second hand auctions!

i want an rc drift car...

A guy I work with just bought one, it's so fucking cool! Its taking a lot of getting used to, but you can like fully replicate real drifting! Minus tyre smoke hahaha

Awesome :) I had an EB4 S2, was a real good buggy actually, took some right shit too!

its alot of fun just needs a wide space to run it properly

Yeah man.

Used to spend most my time going flat out at ramps haha snapped chassis in half and all sorts

Decided that I'm going to rebuild and properly set up my truck for the summer; I'm going to replace all the screws that I think are wrong or that aren't present (obviously), looks like it's going to cost a little bit to do but should be worth it. New parts include right front dog bone, rubber washers that sit between diff and dog bone, front brace screws, brake mount screws, brake pressure thingy screw, steering rack, fuel tank, fuel lines, glow plugs, grease & after run oil.

Haha awesome.

You can pick things up so cheap now! I got an 8000kv Mamba 25 brushless setup for £30!

Can get a decent lipo pack for £30 and a good charger for £60. M18t will be rapid! It's gonna destroy itself

I had a nitro powered losi muggy a year or so back, fucking thing was indestructible

Same as this one, I've probably got photos of mine in my Photobucket but can't be arsed to go searching through it on my phone

Just used to be a case of find some thing remotely ramp shaped and fired it at it

There was a thread on retro rides recently about rc cars and its got me really wanting another one, just more for the posing this time. This is stolen from that thread

I used to fly rc planes a hell of a lot, still got a few of them lying about and iv just bought an original twinstar off the bay which should be in the air by weekend.

Iv also got a hyper 7 with a Mach 28 I use for bashing, always seem to break something when I take it out tho lol.

Haha it's awesome, I convinced a guy at work to spend £200 on a brushless setup earlier, have about 10 of us at work messing around with them now, it's ace fun haha

i used to have a cheap rc helicopter it was great till i thought ill see how high it can go it disappeared and when i found it there wasnt much worth salvaging I'm going to make my tto1 a hell of alot faster though need a brushless 5.5 turn for it as I'm going to compete in the vw action rc drag racing

5.5t brushless?! Awesome, what KV is that? Get sensored, cogging with senseless is a pain in the arse

I have a Mini (FWD), BMW Z3 (RWD) and Corrado (4WD). Just so I'm covered.

Here dude
