Lowering Vs Insurance...

Featured Replies

just phoned up to see how it would affected my insurance if i went ahead and lowered the polo...(i want everything declared) and they said as long as it was not lowered more 50mm it would cost me £40- thats fine... but if i lower it more that 50mm they wont insure me... is there any way they could find out if i was in an accident and it was lower than 50mm? I'd like to get coilovers and wind them down but also have them declared... surely they wont know be able to find out if its below 50mm?

Cheers, Marc

Chances are if they frequent the forum (which they may do) posting it on here won't help if you do do the dodgy.

You know the true answer if you want to keep it all above board. That said, the likelihood of them measuring the ride height is slim if you are in an accident, although it will be obvious to an assessor if its much lower (and the police if they pull you and check your insurance). Remember, insurers will do everything they can to avoid paying a claim, and quite right too (within reason) they are a business, ultimately, to make as much money as possible.

just find a company that will insure you n let you lower more than 50mm!
