Description: I'm selling my mk3 polo GT that has been converted to a G40.

I bought the original polo G40 (which was a white car) back in 2003 and in 2006 I took it off the road to split it as I discovered the shell had structural damage caused by the previous owner. The complete running gear was removed and dry stored for 5 years.

Over those 5 years I bought countless new parts to replace tired bits and bobs, I have a folder full of receipts to back this up.

Eventually bought a new shell to stick the g40 into. The shell was previously a polo GT shell owned by "currie" from clubpolo who had a 1.3 g40 turbo conversion in it.

He had the shell prepped to withstand the common body work flex/cracking you can suffer from higher torqued g40/turbo motors, these mods include 45degree gussets welded from track control mounts to front chassis legs and a full 6 point welded OMP roll cage.

The car has the following set up:

CHASSIS

Currently on 14" mk4 polo 16v alloys as I sold the White Wellers seperately

6 point OMP welded roll cage with removable front section and connecting bars

New Full H+R cup kit suspension

Reconditioned suspension struts

New top mounts

Brembo vented/grooved front discs

Padgid front brake pads

New Rear brake shoes

New Front wheel bearings

New Rear wheel bearings

New Rear axle bushes

Reconditioned rear g40 axle with rear ARB

Braided brake pipes all round

New brake fluid

Reconditioned Track control arms with powerflex bushes

Reconditioned front ARB with powerflex bushes

New steering arms/tie rods (both sides) Think they are the proper rose jointed ones too, canny remember

ENGINE

1.3 G-lader supercharged with 96k miles on the clock

Cylinder head valve seals replaced and pressure tested

PSD phase 2 toothed pullies

SNS chip

g60 injectors

jetex air fliter

boost return mod

de-wedged throttle body

all smiles oil catch tank

4 branch exhaust manifold

full 63mm bastuck de-cat exhaust system

Various new sensors, washers, seals and water pipes etc

New timing belt and water pump only 500miles ago

BODYWORK

The Car is Black (dont know the code) with a sunroof

Its got a few scratches and small dents here and there. They never bothered me personally, I just liked driving the car the way it was.

GT/G40 arch trims and skirts

The front bumper has been modded to allow a front mount intercooler to be fitted where the front number plate goes or in the gap bellow. I have the standard intercooler on the car so I've got the number plate in the usual place.

INTERIOR

Interior is stripped out in the rear with no carpets etc. The front has the carpet sections but the sound deadening has been removed from underneath etc.

The seats are from a 16v Corrado. These seats are great for the polo, they allow you to sit quite low in the car but still give you the option to raise them up if you need to. The seats are in excellent condition.

There is also a boost gauge frenched into the right hand air vent inside.

The car also has a toad alarm fitted.

As it stands, the car needs a good clean and polish and hoover out inside. The plastics are slightly faded so wee bit of back to black will sort that. I have removed the front part of the roll cage to make it less visable to nosey passers by as the car is not being used now.

I also have a few boxes of spare parts including original charger pulleys and a front mount intercooler that i'll through into the deal (need to look them out the shed)

On with the pics:

The last two pics show the full roll cage in place with bar padding too. The bucket seat shown in the pics has been replaced with the 2 corrado seats and the vdo gauges have been removed as well but will be put back in.

The car is located in Glasgow Scotland,

if your interested in buying it could you contact me through pm please

Thanks for looking

Chuck

Would u ever sell the engine ? And Scotlands a trek for me Haha

Seen this car in person when my mate baught said cobra bucket seat!

This car really is gorgeous and really is a good laugh just to sit in with it being stripped and having the cage.

If I get out of doing deliveries and get my new job soon enough, I'll have it!

Having said that, I'm certain the first person to view will buy!

Really is an awesome little car.

Good luck with selling it man!

Dont think you'll need it though haha.

When was the charger last serviced..?

When was the charger last serviced..?

The charger was serviced about 7 years ago by Pitstop Developments and had the Full blend treatment.

The car only did about 500miles after the service though and then I took it off the road up untill last year. I then rebuilt the polo in this new shell in August but only ran it for 3 months up untill the weather started to get bad in Autumn so in total the chargers only had about 600mile use since its rebuild. I still have the original Pitstop receipt for the service and work along with a folder of all the other receipts for things I've bought/replaced on the car.

I serviced the car in august and as I say I've only done 100miles in it since then. The timing belt and water pump were also done before putting it back on the road.

The only issues with the car is one of the wee side tabs that hold in the speedo/rev gauges etc has snapped so sometimes the speedo cable pops out the back of it. It only happened just before I took it off the road last autumn though so the mileage is only out by about 30 miles. If you had a spare set of mk3 clocks you could transfer the internals of the g40 one into the decent clocks with both tabs intact.

The mirror in the passenger side wing mirror is missing.

The clutch release bearing sometimes squeals when you let the clutch out. It works 100% but the bearings must be squeeking since its not been used for years.

The only other thing is the centre pipe of the exhaust could do with being adjusted ie the way its hanging. It doesnt catch on the road etc when driving, it just rubbed on my drive way bacause of the angle of the drive. never bothered me though.

Cool...thanks for the reply

Back up to the top.

The G40 will now come with a set of mk4 16v polo alloys with good tyres and I've knocked off the price of 6 months tax so new price is £1950.

Also I'm willing to consider swaps for an equally valued more modern VAG car or px on something like an AUDI TT

Another thing I forgot to add in the original advert as I have just remembered I got it done.

All the cylinder head valve seals were replaced and the head was pressure tested before I rebuilt the car. They didnt need done, I just got them done as the engine was split when in storage.

such a nice car mate. if i had money id buy it!

So you wont be tempted by my 6n2 colour concept tdi then? haha.

In all seriousness, if this is still here at the end of april I will take it!

Need to drive to cornwall with my girlfriend and her wee brother then.

Once I'm back up if I get my car sold in time I'll have it.
