Anyone had a go at this? Might Wang one in a mk3?

I nearly bought 2 full (rx7 possibly?) setups last year with a view to converting the chevette, they were the older non turbo lumps mind and it was only cause they were cheap and in Nuneaton that even got the idea in my head. It's still a route I would consider for it if the circumstances were right.

The size and weight of them just makes them really appealing to me and the name makes me giggle

I have heard that they drink oil though, so if you were to get one with a few miles on it that could be a problem.

Plus if they are burning oil excessively you may have a problem getting through MOT emissions or destroying CAT's!!!!

But the name is hilarious

I guess the rebuild kits would be something like buying new rings for a normal SI engine.

I know the lad who owns the company that make replacement tips. They use oil as its injected lol.

They're so small and different, people run over 1000hp from 1.3's haha. Plus you get 3 power creations in 1rev

They're not a bad engine. Just need regular servicing and the correct running procedures and they're fine. The main problem is people drive them like a normal car and therefore they need a rebuild after 50k miles. Oh, and they're terrible and fuel and oil.

I love rotary engines, they're a bit silly but they've got real character if you can be arsed.

I've thought about it before, a few years ago, doing a rotary conversion in a Polo. The conversation came up chatting to a specialist who was keen to fit one in the Max budget Clio. Trouble is while the engine itself is tiny - you'd probably get three rotors under a Mk3 engine bay - mounting the gearbox would be a massive pain in the arse.

Very cool things though, especially as they're basically modular. So you can basically keep adding rotors depending on space.

I mean this'd never run, but you get the idea. 12 rotor Wankel engine anyone?

And use a little oil? Just a bit! Highly modded ones need two stroke oil in the fuel...

Audi uses a single rotor Wankel engine as a range extender in the A1 e-tron. Still about!
