Tom's 92 1.3 coupe

Featured Replies

decided it was about time to get a driving licence (almost 21) so i've got myself a test booked at the end of march, i WILL pass haha

got round to purchasing myself an automobile. obviously it's a mk2f polo, why choose any other? :D

a friend sent out a messange on facebook saying he was going to scrap his polo the next day and i shotgunned the b**ch in an instant!

bought it in early january for a meager £300 (it was originally £200 but i was a bit slack about going to get it and i had to match another offer)

it's a completely standard 1.3 5 speed nz genesis with 83k on the clock, starts fine everytime and is definatly give you that polo feeling when you drive it :D

the iterior is immaculate apart from faded doorcards but i've kindly 'made' my grandmother re-upholster them.

two small aesthetic rust spots just below the fronts of the doors (will post pics) and a small ding in the boot but apart from that bodywork is fine

paint is quite faded, i'll t-cut it and see what it turns out like. if it's pretty shoddy i'm thinking about a full re-spray in nato green or possibly a dark burgandy.

a few pics of what it looked like at purchase:

took it for an mot and i was fearing rot but turns out there's not a patch in sight! also flew through the emission test so added bonus!

the ball joint on the front left steering arm had gone so i replaced both arms (they're cheap as chips!) and i got the rear left wheel bearings fixed too

i had to get new wipers, led's for rear numberplate light and rear brake hoses so it came to about £150 in total (not bad!)

bought an extensive list of parts since then and now:

-clear indicators with chrome bulbs

-badgeless front grill

-smoked side repeaters

-ashley 4-2-1 manifold

-fk 85-70 lowering springs and shocks TA 80-60 lowering springs + shocks and new top mounts via PhilJ (Problems with Venom Motorsport)

-13" g60 banded steels 7.5j front and 8j rear with 165-55 stretched on both.

-late spec rear lights with a german l/h lamp.

i think i'm going to go for a custom exhaust system with cat back and just lie to the po-po and say it's pre august as i want to get as much power out of it as possible :D

i've resprayed and back to black'd the bumpers and removed the catalyst badge from the rear (will post a pic as the evidence is very noticable) and removed all the stickers the previous owner added

i've also ordered some camo vinyl to wrap the bonnet in as it's a differnt shade of blue to the rest of the car :/

however, i personally think it'll look awesome! link for it - http://www.metrorestyling.com/Woodland-Cam...amowoodland.htm

spent almost £600 on a sweeeeeet audio setup (i can assure you that at no point did halfords come into the equation)

i got:

- 120w 2-way in-phase 3.5" front speakers

- 550w pioneer 4-way 6x9's

- 1000w kenwood 2 channel amp

- sony cd-less headunit, you store the ipod behind the front face so no annoying wires! take a look -

(very cheesy advert).

- remote control for the headunit

- 800w 15" jl audio sub and a ported enclosure

i've fitted the wheels and there is about 2cm poking on the rear and about 1cm on the front, will old bill notice this?

i'm thinking it might look a little better when it's lowered but i think i may need a little camber or to get the arches pulled as i'm not a fan of plastic arch kits.

suspension should arrive any day so i'll put up some pictures once i've got it lowered :)

thanks for taking a look, i'll update soon when i get more bits fitted (i.e. the vinyl wrap on the bonnet).

Just a quick update to show the progress of the little beast ;)

suspension has STILL not arrived, Venom Motorsport SUCK dong!

exhaust system all sorted, got a guy near norwich who's going to build a custom system for me (thanks for the lead Iscariot!)

probably going for 2" tubing with a cat (will need to weld a bolt on ashley manifold for lambda sensor), backbox into a 2.5" hidden and tucked up tailpipe (more ground clearance ;) )

grill and and all round lights fitted along with today's mission, the CAMO!

Got my friend sam luckett over who run's his own printing company to help me with it, took a fair few hours as the wrap wasn't too easy to work with but the final product is awesome!

may not be to everyone's cup of tea but i'm really impressed with how it turned out!

Think i might keep the rusted rocker cover and sand it down a little, looks pretty cool!

A lot more to do in the next month so i'll update when i can

Sounds like you're cracking on it with, progress looks good dude.

Not sure on the bonnet personally but each to their own!

We need more pics :)

Sweeet! The guys at P&P will do a good job on the exhaust, mines been great for the past 3 years even after the abuse it suffered on my old car.

From my experience you'll never get what you order from Venom, bunch of idiots! Get onto PhilJ on here and he'll have you some delivered in no time 8-)
