I drove around for over a year with a broken speedo, bet they thought I was taking the piss when I renewed it and gave them the same mileage as the year before

I think it would be the first thing they would check if you were involved in an accident tho

It's only estimated isn't it? So aslong as its not ridiculously over the top, sure they won't be that bothered

if you gave them your mileage at the start of the policy then yes you need to tell them as you may be on a limited mileage scheme. Your paperwork should tell you.

You can 'claim' that but in all likely hood, in the event of a claim, it will not get you anywhere.

Did you tell them the mileage of the car when you insured it? They didn't ask me when I done mine..

I didn't tell them the mileage when I insured it, my only concern is them checking mot's etc.. :(

I know they'd probably F me over if claimed/crashed though.

Erixstar, I can't wind it back as I am trying to be a proper person this year haha! However if the speedo were to stop working for a few months, it wouldn't be a massive problem

What we're all really saying here is when you buy a car off a CP user you can be sure it has not done the mileage they are saying it has done!!

on my first year of driving, i was covered for 2k miles, i phoned them and asked to change it to 10k and it didn't go up a penny.

I also went from Social, Domestic, Pleasure to SDP & Commuting (which did put it up a bit) but was no extra for the extra 8k miles

Can you explain please? I'm guessing he had an accident which was deemed his fault, the insurers didn't cover him and he got sued for damages.

He had alloys on an otherwise standard car. Had to pay for repairs on other party, and a whiplash claim and fees. And still got a driving ban even though "technically" he was his own insurance as he paid for what his insurance would have
