Myself and a very good mate changed a clutch on a 2003 Polo 1.4 TDi using a LUK (Original equipment) clutch kit (Pressure plate,clutch plate,bearing) and within 20 miles the clutch bearing has failed!!! The original bearing was made out of steel and the new one was partly made out of plastic! Well more like chocolate tbh! So the gear box has to be re taken off for the sake of a £10 part!...

I'm not a happy bunny to think that a manufacturer has made such a crap part for such an important part! and to top it off the new one (LUK) only make plastic ones and not steel as the original! What a fooking joke...

I'll be getting onto LUK and giving them a round of fooks! Has anyone else had this kinda problems with any other clutch kit?

amazing how companies try to make things as cheaply as they can get away with. or maybe your incident was one in a million. dont they come with warranty

Yer mate!... They make these things now so that they have a limited life span! But you'd expect it to last more that a few miles! Its just companies trying to cut costs and make more profit for the sake of the share holders! There is a 2 year warranty in place, but not the point really as having to take the sub frame and box off to get it sorted. This part will only fail again with the plastic getting hot and start to become brittle!...I will be getting hold of LUK and see what they're prepared to do!... Shame when I could have got a Sachs kit or something else, but I went for the original kit that was on the car!... Never again
