So basically I have possibly got a job in London, so I'm gonna need a diesel, I will be driving from Milton Keynes to London everyday, so I just want any opinions of any good ones to get?

What's your budget?

It's a bit lacking in scene points but I'm finding my little corsavan hard to knock. Cost a grand on a 52-plate and does 60mpg on a bad day.

Not really got a budget in mind tbh just wanna see what comes along, and with the train I will be working nights so dont fancy coming back on the train at about half 3 in the morning lol, I think it would be easier to drive anyway because it's about 2 mins away from the end of the m1 so an easy drive!

I have a MK3 Golf 1.9TDI.

60MPG all day everyday, sadly it isn't £30 tax a year though.

How are people getting 60mpg from 1.9TDi? My 1.4 TDi 9n struggles for that. Am i driving too fast? Still, I'd easily go for the same again. Can look nice if modified too. £90 to tax and costs me (at 27 with 4 years NCB) £350 to insure. They can be pricey to buy as they seem to be holding their value quite well (still around 2-3K). Cant knock it though for what it does

My 1.4tdi 9n3 does 60+mpg as I do 110 miles a day on the M1.

Did cost me £6k but tax is only £30 a year!

I do 120 miles a day, but it doesn't matter how I drive. It's always 60 MPG.

I've done 13k in the car in 6 months without as much as an oil change. It doesn't feel as tight as it did when I got it, but it was cheap and I bought it to run into the ground as I knew I'd be putting some heavy miles on it.

B3 passat, veg oil is your friend

If your good at having mk6 golf 2.0tdi is very good 110bhp, £90 tax and comes with many whistles and bells. They have been out for 3 years so could get one off its 1st mot bit of a work horse 65mpg keeps high even with a heavy foot

the clio 1.5dci's are great i have one and its only 30 quid a year tax and you can pick them up for 2k easy enough can get 50-70mpg on them

1M Seat Leon 110TDI, pick them up for £2K worst mpg I got was 50mpg.

my mates got a mk2 1.0l polo breadvan... 45mpg on a weber lol

Best score I had out of my goof 1.9 TDI PD was 78.5mpg over a 50 mile trip! 6 speed boxes ftw

My "daily" is a Renaultsport Clio 197 and it does my head in. So I vote stay away from french... I fancied a change and regret it immensly...

When driving like a granny I get 50 plus. But that's rare.

an early mk4 golf tdi over a later mk4 golf gt tdi i heard tht the turbo were pron to suffer on the later ones so what happend when my old man brought a later one at auction which went into limp mode at 80. i ended having to strip the turbo clean and now it runs fine but average 45mpg is a 6 speed which u can druise at 80 without knowing.

Something with a pd130 in it! I've got a 2004 seat Ibiza FR tdi. I'm 20 and it's cheap to insure. It's got a milltek, panel filter, pd160 intake, remap etc. running 190bhp and 320ft/lbs torque! I'm selling it soon and it will be around £2k (just to give you an idea of prices, not trying to sell it to you!!) I love it, but I do find diesels far more boring to drive than petrols!
