Haha! was thinking of maybe taking a coil out but i think the sump will then scrape and the exhaust will definatly scrape

I'm running 70mm front springs with 1 and 3/4 coils cut out, and low profiles on 13 inch wheels.

haven't had any sump issues yet

Is 70 the lowest?

Exhausts need to be modified to tuck up closer to the body if you want proper lows, the sump shouldn't really be much of an issue if its just the standard engine in it but if you are worried about it just weld a plate on it to give it some extra protection

No i said i didnt wanna fuck up my sump, kind of a important bit. i dont mind scraping the body, but at the moment I've got like 2 inches of clearance

You can convert mk1 golf coilovers, haven't really got a clue to be honest, still gunna around the same price to do the fronts as buying coilovers to be honest, use the search function there should be a thread on this.

Does the sump not sit lower than the bodywork?

Sure if it wasnt for the subframe on mine the sump would be the lowest point of my car.

In all seriousness, without cutting springs or getting coilovers, you aen't getting any lower. You could use lowering top caps or get smaller profile tyres though.

yer the sump is lower so although my sump is close the actual car doesnt look that low if that makes sense.

I'm on 70mm springs all round but 2 coils cut on the front. Would appear that one of my drive shafts is touching or has been making contact with the chassis

Surely coilovers wound that low will still ride just as harsh and still have tca + driveshaft clearance issues.

My sump does have a big grind in it from hitting a speed bump at 30 mph on un cut 70mm springs, would be safe to say that was my fault

you can only use the rears. they are a lot shorter and even wound to their max they're low. they require a little work to fit too.
