MK1-3 Coilovers (mk1 golf setup)

Featured Replies

Right - I've finally got a set up for sale, need to start moving some cash around to help fund a few of these as i haven't got enough sets in the pipeline to supply demand:-(

This set comes in Black and the springs are 330ibs so quite stiff and are for really low setups.

come complete with the knuckles, brand new bearings, Hubs, Brand new CV joints, Brand new top mounts and the 14mm top caps.

Hubs are not shown installed in the photos. they are included, as are the CV's

Come supplied with mk2 golf castor bolts which do the same job but may restrict some castor movement if going really low. this is overcome by reducing the overall bolt diameter as it is a far wider bolt then the mk1 golf ones. i dont get supplied with them and they are expensive from the dealer.

Painted Jet Black

will lower in excess of 100mm

Collection only from Coventry as i dont want to post them really as they will get bashed up in transit.

dont ask if i have rears, this is a set of just fronts - il block you from pm'ing me if you do.

I can fit - but for a fee and I'm pretty busy at the moment.

And to all those whove pmed me - I've tried to send you all a link to this but i apologise if i have missed anyone.

this is for a direct fit kit- all parts required are included, all that is required other than the fitting of the shock is to fit the CV joint to the driveshaft - i prefer to remove the shaft and fit the cv joints using a vice, its the users preference how they choose to do it.

dont worry about deleting it

hi there mate just wondering what hubs have you bolted on to coilovers and are they the exact fit for a mk3 polo coupe?

  • 8 months later...

Bump this thread ..

How much travle is there same at 80-90 mm as i know the golf shocks are shorter than polo items..

Making a few more sets for next year ?

seeing as this thread bumpage has kicked off another round of pms i might aswell reply on here.

i have no plans to make anymore sets at the moment as it isnt cost effective for myself as the cost and time involved in ensuring they are to my standards means they dont make me any money for my time, time which i spend at work earning money.

I'm all prepared to do a group buy if there is interest, and i think now that i will offer a service to convert the struts for people for a fee.

The availibility of mk1 hubs is getting scarcer and due to this the price rises:-( and unless i put a good amount of money in- i wont be able to make it worth my while to do it.

I'm still knocking sets up for friends but that is all i can honestly see happening.

As for how low- they will lower however much the coilovers are designed for. i think toby's were -120mm!

the kits i have in process at the moment are -110mm. i cant imagine the ride at that height being mega comfy!

Mine take me lower than its possible to drive with (due to other things catching)

Raised them up to a respectable height and they are shockingly comfortable. Everybody that has been in the coupe are surprised at how good the ride is.

Still bumpy, as it would be being that low. But its not crashy like shocks and springs are.

I mean, this is obv down to what set of golf coilies you end up with, spring and shock rates etc. Think i just got lucky with the softest springs kiz had

I'm glad to be one of very few with one of these kits 8-)

seeing as a moderator edited a post i made in a wanted advert - even though it was rational and releated to the advert- id appreciate it if the same moderator with a fucking chip on his shoulder would do the same to my adverts - otherwise i might think they were singling me out.

and next time they do it - id appreciate it if they left a message including who did it so there not hiding behind there computer screen thinking they can do what they like

Might help people get some idea of how low this setup will get a polo

IMAG0769.jpg

This isn't the best shot to show how low they go due to the garden not being level and dropping in the middle,

IMAG1504.jpg

considering there's still some adjustment left all round in both those pics (second is set slightly lower than the first one) I'd say its fair to say they will get a polo as low as most people will ever need

I've never had an issue with weights on either of the two polo's I have ran this sort of drop on Jamie

Guessing the 14's as it looks like you've got 256's preety darn close same as me .. But guy just realised them wheels look badass !!!! lol .

Aslong as its an improvment on the springs and shocks kit ill be a happy man lol. Not fussed to much but may be taking it to germany if i can afford it so would be good to have a little comfort :)
