Hi,

After hooking up my lappy to the diagnose the faults on my car, I seem to have some errors on the wiring for the ABS and Airbag modules.

The majority of the recommendations are to check the wiring to the ECU.

Where is it located in the 6n2?

Under the plastic cover at the back of the engine bay between the bulkhead and the base of the windscreen

FAIL! naa it was for my benefit i was ment to write its in the passengers footwell is it not. Need to check a mates mk5 tonight

By the fusebox

The 6n is by the fusebox, the 6n2 one is under the ashtray in the center consol..

Just pull the ashtray up and its there!

Remove wiper arms and plastic rain tray. If you can see the ECU then you may want to visit the opticians :)

Suggested fixes for the errors I am encountering seem to be to check the connections, replace the ecu modules or replace the loom.

This does not sound cheap.

Have got an ABS pump coming soon, but the airbag stuff I'm not sure about the fix yet.

The airbag one is usually flagged cause the battery has been removed/discharged at one point?

You'll need the full version to clear it though.

And I bet the ABS one is because of a corroded fuse on the top of the battery tray. Actually, I bet the cost of the new pump!

I have checked the fuses on the battery and they all seem okay but I will replace them and clean all the terminals first.

Also I have tried to clear the codes on the airbag and they just come back.

The shareware version still seems to let you clear fault codes. I did have one to do with the immobiliser that I cleared.

As for the price of a pump I was very lucky to get one off eBay for £25. Dealer price £685 + vat.

Can't agree to the bet though. I ain't that rich.
