Had a letter off the police today saying they have photo evidence of me doing 43 in a 30 and if I don't fill the form in claiming it was me driving within 28days could get penalty points and a fine... This is my first driving offence is almost 3years, if I admit asap it was me do you thin I will get let off with just a fine?

I'd ask for the evidence, do you think it was you?

It was me lol

If it was you, better admit it, rather than end up in court for perverting the course of justice like that tory mp  It'll still be a fine and points :-(

How many points? Just 3? And a 60pound fine? And how much will it affect my insurance

If you have a look at this http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum...3560-SP30-Fines yes 3pts £60 if you don't reply within the 28 days it could be the first reply in the link, 5pts and £135 !! As to your insurance it depends who you are with? some won't load up your policy

I would want to see the photographic evidence before admitting anything, tbf though I got an SP30 (3points £60 fine) ((overtook an unmarked car, on a dual carriegway :doubt: )) and it didnt really have an impact on the insurance.

Sneaky thing to do in my opinion, will catch people out and increase their fines, therefore increasing police revenue.

Too sly for my liking. They should send photo evidence to you in first place.

Unless they know what you look like then how are they to know they have photographic evidence of you?

Tbh tho I'd just admit it and get it over with, as they say if you can't do the time don't do the crime. I haven't got points (touch wood) but the general consensus seems to he that your first speeding fine doesn't make a lot of difference to insurance because its so easy to get caught out these days and quite a lot of people have at least 3 points
