After finishing my 6n g40 i wanted another project to tinker with and after looking at loads of different cars i came back to a mk2 coupe but all the ones around were rotten or just to far away.I stubled accros this boulevard on ebay so arainged a time to see it and as soon as the lady opened the garage door i knew i wanted it although not the trim spec i really wanted so we settled a price and i collected it a few days later

It had a horrible grey interior that i just didnt like but i knew i had one that id been saving but didnt have a black carpet but good ol steve 86c came up trumps (cheers mate) and i collected a carpet and a load of other bits from him at the rr day.So on with pulling the old interior out and replacing it

So with the new seats in i decide the boot was looking a little tired and scratched so i got some acoustic carpet and trimmed the inner arches and boot sides still need a boot carpet though

Thats all I've done so far apart from a new glovebox and fixing the fag lighter but i have managed to source a new exhaust so once I've sorted a few nigely bits inside that will be next then suspension

I'm in abingdon mate i only really no martin and jon in oxfordshire

Colour coding is going i hate lol it I've already got all the black trims ready to go on I've always liked the early spec coupe s hence the interior just a shame its got a mh rather than hk but good white ones just arent around bit thin on the ground nowadays

Noooo! Keep the colour coding! I had a set of white bumpers on my white breadvan, loved the look! Black does look cool, but I like the rareness of the white.

the car looks mint man i am glad to hear that the colour coding is going only thing letting the car down at the moment :-D

That's basically removing a huge chunk of the cars character and making it way less unique.

Yeah I'd say keep the colour coding. It could be a lot worse, you could have a red one!

I think the mirrors might have been changed as I think they're supposed to be colour coded as well. If you look on google images there is a white one on there with white mirrors

Gaz it did have white mirrors when i got it I've already started changing all the trim.Basicly i only bought it as its white i love white cars and i couldnt find an early (a- c plate coupe s) in white so this has the early interior will be getting the black trim and red/black pistripes and maybe a hk once i find one as i prefere them to the mh

for those that no me will no why i wanted a white mk2 but for those who dont i sold my old c plate coupe s 3 years ago after owning for 6 years and regretted it ever since.it came back up for sale a little while later but i wasnt in a possition to buy it it back and i then found out the new owner broke it up for parts

all the colour coding is pretty ruff anyway some bits have been redone to a poor standard but i will be keeping them so it can be returned to standard

How much acoustic carpet did you use by the way? My cars boot it scratched to buggery and I fancy doing what you've done.

one roll did both arches and side bits would want another one to do the floor and back panel

i cant remember whats on a roll tbh think it was 2 meters by 1.5 meters but i need to get another roll so ill let you no

and brghtsideteeem i thought so to till today and theres another oops seems like this thread is going to be full of them.I started to remove the arch and sill trims to find the rear end of the drivers side sill was erm a little rusted so I've cut the outer sill off and luckily the inner sill isnt to bad so i can repair that but I've ordered a square back sill to give me the section i need hopefully there not too different as coupe ones are totaly obsolite from everywhere.There was a section of underseal missing on the rear of the inner arch aswell so i attacked that with a grinder to find i had a nice hole there too oops lol.so I've cut it all out ready for welding but now need to remove the petrol tank before i do the sill does anyone no if you can remove the tank without removing the rear beam? I've only done both at the same time not just one.Luckily the passengers side is ok so thats a little more of my plate.ill get some pics up tommorow.

On the plus side I've fitted mfa from a mk1 golf only thing left to do is get the mpg swingometer working.Also fitted a new g40 exhaust and 4 branch manifold and ap suspension kit.

I managed to get the petrol taank out today and get the rear inner arch welded up and got the sill cut out ready to put the section of new sill in luckily the inner sill isnt to bad and is repairable

not the worlds best welding but the wax oil and sealer made life a little hard but got there in the end ill hopefull crack on with the sill tommorow night after work now we have an extra hour of daylight

Gone in exactly the same place as mine. Do you need the tank out to weld the back of the rear arch then?

not for the rear inner arch but i do for the sill as the filler neck is right where it needs welding and is not a risk worth taking to be honest removing the tank is no biggy the worse part is draining it and even worse mine was a full tank.
