Again it seems to be the case of here's one group of cars we've seen we don't like, let's make huge sweeping generalisations about the entire scene we know precisely jack all about and then get our backs up when people in that scene try and defend it

This site does my nut in because it seems to be stocked with some (not all I might add) people who just need an excuse to rip upon something they don't like because they've nothing better to do (granted most forums do that but it seems to be to an shallower extent on here)

Granted that the cars shown in the banner are pretty god awful I agree, but I type this not defending what some people do in our scene but for myself as I refuse to be tarnished by generalisation

Granted my two cars are highly modded, My 2001 Polo has some wider wheels but fitted with the correct tyre sizes in keeping with speedo accuracy and safety, coilovers have had the geometry done on a full 4-wheel laser machine and the car sits barely 4cm off the ground, is it dangerous? No, does it skip across the road at the slightest bump? No, in fact it handles like its on bloody rails

By some people's logic on here, my mk2 scirocco would probably be considered dangerous being as its exceptionally low (sump is barley 1.5cm/2cm off the floor) fitted with a 16v engine, uprated brakes, Toyo's and full geometry setup done again but being tarred by the brush on here, I'm a fucking dubber who needs his bumps examined or what have you because my car is too low and its dangerous....

And before anyone mentions they hope I get pulled by the police, I have been in the scirocco, random stop, not for anything else, he spent 15 mins pouring over the car and couldn't find a single thing wrong, even the racing manifold and straight through exhaust are within noise limits

I wonder say I'm a massive fan of stretch tyres and the like, but I can appreciate hard work and give credit where its due, even if its not to my taste (on a side note, those banging on about geometry being out on air-ride, when you have air-ride, you first set the height you want to run at then set the geometry up for that height, as you just empty the system when you park to drop it, geometry matters precisely jack all then, also those with air aren't likely to be throwing their cars around, coilover systems are much better for that)

Don't get me started on rat-look though, best suited to aircooled and american hotrods IMO!

I can provide pictures of both my cars, height wise and modification wise for any doubters out there, I'll even go buy a sodding tin of custard powder to do it also I'm not a 'scene kid' I'm 28!

In summation, yes some people are idiots, but a) don't tar everyone with the same brush (that goes for both sides on this thread) and b) some opinions are best kept to yourself instead of being internet keyboard warriors

I don't wanna associate myself in agreement with people who just wanna take the piss in a non-constructive manner, but they only really seem to be having a laugh - and it's not like they don't have a point.

I find myself shaking my head with a smile, thinking the drivers of cars like those ones have lost the plot, bouncing along at 30mph on the motorway in a perfect example of form over function.

But it's just an opinion, there's inevitably someone laughing at me for running a noisy 27yo shopping trolley on the same day, so whatever makes you smile is all good imo.
