As title, what dis you drive before your current ride?

I built a 2.0 16v track car corsa...

Dont think i'll be going as hardcore with the polo, it was fun to build, but financially it was a money pit.

Absolute fucking hoot to drive though!

still have it, but it is non vag

Never had a non VAG. Never had a non VW, or even a non polo for that matter . But i am only 22. My dad hasnt had a non vag for nearly 30 years, and still thinks the MK2 polo coupe s he had over 20 years ago was the best car he's had :-)

My Polo is my second car.

My first was a brand new entry level Clio (2010), served me well for 18 months but I never changed a thing about it.

Had my dads rover 114 ( metro ) up when he moved to wales. Never had license etc but used to rally down the lanes from 14.

( private lanes ) hydro gas let out .. and alot of fun :)

Current daily's are a 98 renault master van and an 02 corsa van.

I was insured on a Ford ka for the first 3 weeks after I passed my test (from my girlfriend at the times parents) three weeks later I woke up with a blinding hangover after drinking 12 pints the night before, to see my girlfriends parents standing above me saying 'So how did the car get home then Steve?'

Two days later I bought my mk3

I owned this for 6 months before the MOT expired, it served me and my cousin well for the 5 years, 50.000 miles and the only problem we had with it was the alternater other than that it was faultless. Being an L reg SLi it had the 103BHP K series lump (No headgasket issues with this one) was quicker than my mates GT and kept up with my other mates 6n 16v, so what it lacked in street cred it made up for with its performance. Now I own a 1.0L Coupe

That Mini as laaavly, why'd you get rid of it?

Out of 7 cars I've owned I've only owned 1 non vag which was a fiesta. I never drove it and the only reason I ever got a VAG car is because we went to get the fiesta MOT'd after I passed and found out the gearbox was fucked. It was a shame in a way as I had spent loads of time repairing it from a CAT C write off and it looked really clean.

So got myself a 6n instead and just had VAG cars ever since. I have nothing against non vag cars and have considered many but it just seems that whenever I fancy a new car theres a VAG that fits the bill.

Gotta say though, I've had 4 VW's, a 6n, mk2 golf, mk4 golf turbo and a T4 and none of them have been great to drive. My 2 'inferior' Ibiza's have been far nicer to drive, and my current cupra is much better built than any of my VW's as well, its also fully specced up as standard which is nice.

As much as I like most VAG cars a grey MK2 Honda Accord is very very very appealing to me.

Mine is a VTR one though, and i have it now, first non vag car for me.

1. F Reg 1L Morris Minor Traveller with only 40k on the clock. (Crashed it) £300

2. X Reg 1.3 Escort. (Rusted and fell apart)

3. W Reg 950cc Ford Fiesta in Tuscan Beige (or stagnant water brown as I called it) (Rusted, fell apart, engine went) Was only £350

4. Renault 11 1.2L in blue. (Rode like a boat) (replaced head gasket and it still blew up)

5. G reg VW Jetta TX 1.6L in Red. Loved this car, good number plate too. G33 NTV. Bought it for £3600 from VW dealers second hand. (Crashed it. Write off. Cracked the suspension housing.)

6. F reg Peugeot 309 1.9L GTi. Completely mad car. Was chiped and had uprated maxgex system on it. (Distributer fell of on the M42 once. Fail it's MOT once, needed lots of valve seal work then had a fire in the engine bay at the garage while fixing it. Got caught speeding in it. Got broken into 4 times. Doomed car. Crashed it.)

At this point I settled down a little, for a while. No more crashes either.

7. Early 90's American Ford Taurus 3L V6 from my Dad who was into american cars at the time. (Headgasket blew. Was a bitch to start and drank fuel very quickly. Comft as hell though. Sold for parts to someone.)

8. 2L Renault 21 Auto. Another one of my Dad's cast off's. Pretty quick really. Sold that.

9. G reg Ford Sierra Sapphire 1.6L that I bought for £200 cause it had that red paint whiteness. A good Tcut later and it was awesome. I swear only 3 cylinders worked. Sold it. (Trivia, last rear wheel drive car made in this country.)

10. G reg White MK2 Golf GTi. Got it for free as it was being scrapped by someone. Cost me £400 to get on the road again. Loved it. Engine finally died though. Went to NotEscorts for recycling.

11. N reg BMW 525 24v Auto SE. Lovely car with surprisingly little rear leg room and space.

12. 52 plate Mazda 6 Sport 2.3L in Yellow. Damn quick car and seriously reliable. Currently still have this but trying to sell it. £1500 if anyone is interested.

13. J Reg MK1 Golf Cabrio. Was a mess in a barn, not been driven for 4 years. Completely fixed it up, but became too impactical with new baby. Cost me £600 to buy (other bits cost more) sold for £1400.

14. 52 plate Renault Clio 1.2. For the 17 year old to learn to drive in. Now his.

15. 51 plate Polo 6n2 GTi (The one I now have)

16. 56 plate Saab 9-3 1.9 Tid Sport, the Mazda replacement. (Just bought this)
