Well since the weathers playing ball today, decided to sort out afew bits on ze car......

Bumper off and the intercooler redone in stealth mode :)

Whilst it was off, decided that id move the airfilter to somewhere it would get a cooler air feed and it would make room for a catch tank.....

Pikeytech ftw (until i get to my mates dads workshop and get something abit more fitting created.)

As for the wheels, the shinyness is no more......

The glitter might return at some point tho

Even removed the stickers in the side window and it looks lots better.

RA's are so overdone and then it would look like every other Geefortay and thats not the plan going for the stealthy look without going too over the top.

the air filter idea was stolen from a certain well known GT and will be improved upon,.hopefully sometime this month, along with a custom made switch console when i get the bits i need from ebay

Cars booked in tuesday for its MOT. hoping and praying it dont fail on anything too serious! There is a clonk on drivers side front when hitting bumps. Not exactly sure what it is but I'm hoping to have a look saturday or sunday if the weathers kind (not holding my breath!)

Got my PPP stickers through the post (cheers guys ) so got them adorning the side windows once again.

Well the MOT didnt go too badly.... FAILED :(

Not a massive or serious list...

O/S headlamp aim too low

foglight not functioning

figlight tell tale not functioning

1 numberplate light not functioning.

wiggled the headlight and dug the fog switch out the dash where it hides. the numberplate light took abit more work. seems the bulb holders hadnt seen any love for 20 odd years so took em to bits and cleaned the contacts up. two new bulbs and alls good. a couple of hours later and shes MOT'd for another year :)

Now to find the cause of the clunk noise from O/S front!

Wasnt a major issue anyway. Fixed the issues within 20mins and then popped back to get the few bits signed off.

The clunks not been diagnosed yet due to the weather but i think its exhaust related.

Shame on the fail, looking good though dude!

It wasnt anything major so nothing huge.

I should go outside and wash it as its a mess. at least i wont need a hosepipe in this weather

Well not alots happened. gave the car a wash to get the road filth off it. probably why its raining again (sorry!).

On the upside, i won a new set of wheels on ebay. they need a refurb and new tyres (low pros) but will keep me occupied for a while and will give the car a new look. Much love to Yeti for picking the wheels up for me :)

The mission for the next couple of weeks is to sort these......

they're all in the same kind of state so plan to sand them right back and then glitter them............................................

Only joking not sure what the finish will be yet but expect something marmite.

Sanded the wheel back with coarse sandpaper to remove the worst of the lacquer peel.....

I'll have to show you my wheels sometime. I suspect they might constitute a 'marmite' effect .

If you get fed up of sanding I can get chemically stripped for you, just, the place I know doesn't exactly have a quick turnaround! It took 3 weeks for my wheels, and I'm still waiting on the powder-coating I dropped off 4 weeks ago (and counting).

Its starting to sound an option tbh. I've only done the one wheel so far laid on my living room floor watching tv (multitasking ftw) and its gonna need another hour or so before its ready for a coat of primer! Need to get the tyres removed from the other 3 before i begin with them.

Cheers errrrrr no, its a bloody animal and definately doesnt hang about. For a 1.3, it does 70 (ish) ok, so I've been upto 147mph (on a runway) and it wasnt on the limiter! As for weight, I'm not sure. I'm gonna borrow a weighbridge and find out at somepoint.

Cheers Karlos ill have a think and let you know. 2012's the year to get the beast looking properly good so its deffo an option. ill have to come over again at some point as i haven't seen your projecto yet. timewise, afew weeks isnt a problem as I've gotta source some tyres and i definately wanna begin my new project asap.....

I do get some right funny looks, especially when I'm playing in the motorway. People in more modern expensive cars just dont like it!

Well after long enough, i was getting pretty concerned that the boost was dropping off abit and the smoke appearing out the exhaust so finally pulled my finger out and stripped the front end down........

Good job i did really as there seemed to be quite abit of oil in the intercooler from what i assume was the old turbo spitting its dummy out and parting with an oil seal :( Seeing as that needed cleaning out, I removed all the boost pipes from the turbo to the throttlebody and gave each one a clean out. The inside of the intercooler was rinsed out with whatever i could find kicking about in the garage so abit of wd40 and a litre or two of good ole unleaded later, it seemed to clean the majority of the shite out :) No pics of any of this as my hands were pretty caked in grime and i didnt wanna transfer this all over my phone so you'll just have to use your imagination!

The cars now 99% back together (minus the front bumper as i need to do something with one of the retaining bolts on the front as its come off the arm - total ballache!) and although its coughing out some thin white smoke (moisture left over from inside the intercooler), it seems to be abit better than it was. Come to the conclusion the next job on my list is to modify the oil sump i took off to add an oil return pipe as the crappy chrome sump on there at the min is leaking oil and i'm fed up with it! Just need my mate to pull his finger out (if miracles happen?!) and get a pipe welded onto it so i can swap em over when i get a chance.
