Cheers Eric.

Suspension is gone, but I have shonky shocks (not safe for driving, but to move would be fine) that could go on. Would need own springs though.

Clocks sold

Shame to break this over what is minimal rust If that's all there is? that's a days worth of welding at most, If you wanna see a rusty mk2 check out my 'other mk2' thread and I even deemed that as worth saving. If I had to room I'd of had this to sort out and sell on but its just not viable. Honestly can't believe this is being broken over such minor and easily repaired rust :-(

Its not that Minor though guy. Theres rot in the sills, and every arch is shagged. I've priced so that anyone who wants to save can, but she's a sorry sight on my drive atm, and the missus is not happy about it. TBH, the clocks can be replaced as I have loads of sets if someone wants to have her. If i could weld, I've had saved it too, but i cant. Anyone willing is more than welcome to come view, can do a repair on my drive and then have it for the price.

In the end, I'll have to pay someone to weld this, which I cant afford right now. If i could store it i would, but again, i don't have the space. Plus that bonnet is a fucking eyesore

However, having said that, this is now on hold as far as breaking is going. I'll talk to my man round the corner about repairing this. If i can get it done for a good price, this may be up for sale as a full car

Simon

The bonnet was fucked long before I go my hands on it, the front passenger side corner was bent down so much it wouldn't close properly on my car so I had to take it off and stamp on it to straighten it out

It may not look pretty but that bonnet is perfect for eradicating heat soak on a 16v injection running a top mount K&N.

I'd do the welding on it for a good price if you wanna save it

have you still got the steering wheel?

thanks

Back up. Having poked around the floor pan having, sills and just about every where between rain showers, the rust seems terminal. So this is being broken again. Really just need my money back on this, so offers are welcome. If someone wants the whole car, and think its worth salvaging then again, I'm open to offers. Car currently has no suspension, but brand new shocks and lowering springs can be supplied for cost.

I do this with a heavy heart, as I hate to think this has gone to waste. I bought it with the intention of keeping it, but I was a little rash when buying and didnt really do a full investigation of the underside, which as I said is mostly rotten.

There's a point where it becomes uneconomical to repair, and unfortunately thats been reached. Every removable panel is damaged in some way, and the shell is rusty underneath, so its just not possible to repair everything within a sensible time scale/budget.

Its amazing the difference in quality between this one and the earlier metal 'loon. That one has no rot at all, but this one's just gone!

i think its just luck of the draw tbh, my red 1990 coupe is completely solid, apart from the usual battery tray and exhaust hanger cant find any rot!

compare that to the silver 1985 one and even though its supposedly an earlier beter built car its got holes everywhere!

saying that though the 85 comet blue coupe has been sitting out in the weather for 2 years straight and theres not one bit of rot on it. hence why i will be buying it
