I have ordered 2x Polo GTIs in the past and cancelled them, due to waiting times. In the end, i decided to look out for an ex-demo Polo. In between all of this, i have had a multitude of various cars. Clio 200, Scirocco GT and a few different track cars. I've had somewhere in the region of 20 VW/VAG cars, possibly more now to be honest.

I spotted an interesting ex-demo Polo GTI in black which had the exact spec i was after. Unfortunately, while i was working out a deal with the dealership, SteveP from the Mk5 Golf GTI Forum purchased it from right under me. LOL. At that time, the dealership also had a Candy White car available, but it was still very new, minimal miles and was over budget. Fast forward 3-4 months, and the same car was still available. Now with 5k miles on the clock and a lot cheaper.

Since then, i have performed numerous tweaks in VCDS to turn on some of the better functions.

• Enabled the Australian cluster so i can get the instant speed display on the MFD and move the temperature to its proper location.
• Enabled auto locking over 15kph.
• Enabled auto unlock on key removal.
• Disabled selective unlocking.
• Tear Drop Wipe
• Speed Dependant Wipers
• Beep on Lock/Unlock
• Heated Mirrors on with Heated Screen

I have also fitted an RNS510 Sat Nav unit. Had a couple of these before in a Mk5 GTI and the Rocco GT. And love it to bits.

As well as this, I'm currently planning a Big Brake Kit for the front and rear of the car. The fronts are going on this weekend. Heres what it consists of:

• 312mm Grooved Discs Mk4 Anni
• Brembo pads
• Boxster/Cayman front calipers refurbished in white. Supplied by Dave Brown.
• H&R 8mm spacers and 40mm wheel bolts for front
• Eibach 15mm spacers for rear
• Brake Fitting Kit from Dave Brown. This is a proper piece of kit, with alloy brackets, HEL lines and bolts(A legend in the retrofitting of monster brakes on to VWs)

2x new Mk4 Golf 312mm splash shields.

I have also fitted a Gulfstream footrest. Designed for a 9n3 Polo, but fits perfectly to the 6R Polo as well. (Hurdy has also done this mod).

As well as these existing mods, this weekend i am having the front brakes fitted as well as:

• H&R 35/55 springs (25/40 on a GTI)
• SuperPro Lower Engine Steady Bush (Race/Track)

It will need doing again before Ultimate Dubs. Lets hope there is no rain at the weekend. Candy White gets minging so fast.

Future plans are:

• Replacement wheels. I cant decide on something showey or something racey. I was going to put 17" TD Pro Race 1.2 on it, but the wife doesnt think they are special enough. They are some of the best lightweight wheels around though.
• Big Rear Brakes. This will be a 284mm conversion on the back, with white calipers to match the front. Stay tuned. This will be coming soon.
• Providing there are no oil consumption and DSG issues in the next 12 months. I will be going Stage 2 with a TBE and ITG Induction kit.

Dont you get warranty issues changing parts though?

Only on the parts you directly change or if a failure can be directly attributed to an aftermarket part.

The car was treated to an enhancement detail today by DMR. Nathan and Gaz worked their magic on the car, and i have to say they have done a great job with the time they had to partially correct all the marks that the dealership had put into the paint during its time as a demo for the 6 months prior to me getting my hands on it.

Lovely car mate, i was going to splash the cash on one of these but saved a bit and went for a mk5 Golf instead. Love it so far it is screaming out for black wheels and badges though!!!

Can't find any replacement front VW badges. Pain to wrap, as very deep logo. I tried and failed with 3m carbon dinoc.
