Sky plus HD box

Featured Replies

I've got a plus HD box it's connected to the TV with a scart and HDMI cable, I can watch BBC 1, BBC HD, ITV1, CH4 & CH5 HD channels only, but only via the scart connection, so they are not in true 1080p HD quality, do you need to subscribe to the HD package to get the HDMI output working? I've swopped the HDMI leads around to prove it's not the cable or the sockets on the TV.

I've tried asking Sky, but all they want to do is sell you the upgrade package, which is tempting, as not being able to watch the F1 live is doing my head in :x

thats a bit odd.

HD is for winners though.. should do it ;)

F1 live is also for winners. We upgraded everything (TV, internet, phone) at home just so i could watch the F1

But yeh, maybe the box is broke?

have you tried it without the SCART connection attached?

yeah if the box had hdmi output, id only be using hdmi to connect to the TV.

if it will send a dual signal, you'd only be able to see one at a time on the tv by selecting a HDMI source or External (scart) source

is the F1 live only on HD ?

Nope, its in both normal and HD saflar!

I'd also like to know this.

I just have the scart from the box, (with old skool audio and only use HDMI for the laptop).

This isn't great for the telly because the 50in screen stretches telly channels a bit.

I don't watch much telly or care, but i recon baby's programmes need to be clearer in the interests of her eyesight health.

But there are HD channels i'm not subscribed to, so surely you need to subscribe to HD to get it? All very well having the screen for it, but as of yet, the signal service seems to be the limiting factor as opposed to the set up.

Just tried that and still no picture, begining to think the box is shagged as I've just re-read the install booklet and it states you only need the HDMI cable with this box.

It was a duff cable :-D and it does work without the scart cable and all the normal channels BBC 1, BBC HD, ITV 1, Ch 4 & Ch 5 all other channels require a subscription
