I was installing a different head unit last night (beats head unit) so plug it it and hey presto it works. so then i started to mount it and it strangely stopped working, wont turn on or anything, so changed the fuses in it, still didn't work. i then tried a different head unit (clarion) and it works fine. But the beats didn't still doesn't work and I don't want to use the clarion.

Also went to my cousin as he works in a car shop that would specialise in audio stuff and we tried a load of different head units, not a single one worked, no power or anything, yet this old clarion radio will work

Anyone know what the problem could be? I really don't have a clue and don't want to use the clarion headunit

Correction: With the harness adaptor I'm using the beats headunit gets power for a second then stops

Start with the basics; get a voltmeter on the permanent live line - is there 12v?

Then check the ign live - does it have 12v when the ignition is on?

I'm guessing that, whilst there may be power there (check with voltmeter as suggested above) there may be some high resistance in one (or both) of the feeds, and/or in your earth connection.

This is best checked for with a test light, which will put a little load on to the circuits.

If you find that you are getting something like 12 volts with the voltmeter, yet the bulb won't light (or only lights dimly), there is high resistance, probably in the form of a poor connection.

I'm pretty sure its getting power considering the clarion head unit will work, but I'm seriously confused why no other one will work.

checked with milti aswell, everything is as it should be with the wiring, the origional panasonic headunit and a clarion headunit work but no others will
