Anyone driven a supercar or done a track day

Featured Replies

I done one the other day in a Lamborghini gallardo spyder, had a laugh and it was a good day but the guy in the car with me did not teach me a thing apart from how to adjust the seat an gears. I was expecting a proper briefing of the track, however all I got was a 1 lap guide in a range rover sport

I was wondering if anyone had done anything similar?

I've been to a few now, and have another in a months time, so far I've driven; Nissan GTR, Ferrari 575, Audi r8, Lambo's ect.

Awsome fun isnt it?

Thing is, the instructors are there to protect the cars, so most of the time they wont let you ever get near the cars potential. Most of the time i bullshit about owning an m3 turbo or something, then they let you push the car a little more.

tell them your named Enzo after your great grandfather

Yeah it was fun and would definitely do it again

Seemed to me like they rely on you already being a good driver, on the first bend I almost pooped my pants and feel i didn't get much guidance on how to take the corners properly. Obviously going from a 1.4 polo to a Lamborghini the cornering speeds and grip levels are completely worlds apart

Was quite surprised they let you overtake too

Whats the best car you've driven matt?

I did one at Elvington. It was good, high speed lap in an Impreza sti, then got to have a go of a 996 Turbo, and then a Ferrari 360 modena.

Mum got it me for my 18th, she said it took ages trying to find a company to let me have a go as most are 21+ lol

i drove a SL63 amg at mercedes world for my 18th birthday and the instructor was really helpful, he was telling me when to brake, what line to take and actually told me to keep on the power when i thought i was going too fast round the corner already haha. the skid pan was a good laugh there too

Personaly i think the quickest car was the GTR, feels so dam fast yet so refined. It was wet too, and the instructor felt confedent with me enough to let the rear step out a little. Usualy at these track things people drive the cars so dam slow, makes it much more fun though as your constantly overtaking. The most fun i had was in the ferrari 575, Front engine - rear drive in the wet was awsome 8-)

Next month I've gone for a Caterham and a R8 agian but with a manual box this time, on top of that I've got a half rally day too, driving a Subaru and an EVO, and a gravel rally which you do in a Polo 6n2 16v

think i'll try a rally one next time

I've got one in a months time for my 21st down at Goodwood. I really wanted the British classic package but being 6"5 my feet went well past the pedals on the e and d type jaguar and my knees had no where to go :-( But now i've got the americana package and get to drive a Ford mustang GT, Corvett and a Dodge Viper. I also couldn't fit in the lambo :-( I hate being tall.

I did a supercar experience at Rockingham a few weeks back.

Drove a Lambo Gallardo and Fezza 360. Was an amazing day but your experience seems to depend on whos sat next to you.

The Lambo was awesome, the instructor was very encouraging and showed me the line and how to get the best out of the car. Kept prompting me to put my foot to the floor 8-).

The instructor in the 360 however was a little more cautious and I was only allowed to take it up to 5k revs. Although for a first drive in a Ferrari, it didint really bother me as it still felt pretty nippy! Mine was through buyagift.com. Defo Recommend

Piers

bit silly paying all that money if they wont let you give it the beans!!

i wanna try a single seater.

how long do u get on track then usually?

really? is that it?

that looks a bit shit tbh, barely even allowed to go quick!

no the driver is just shit. can't change gear for toffee.

watched a few man, looks a bit slow and apparently u get chucked off for overtaking ect lol

i wouldnt complain if someone bought me it as a gift, but i wouldnt buy it for myself lol

buy a formula ford? take part in Champions of brands or similar?

cant go over 5k revs or overtake? bollox

they aint duel control are they? and the co driver is hardly going to grab the steering wheel or punch you unconscious at speed surely?.

max it out until it runs out of fuel, and get your monies worth and enjoyment :-)

haha, i will do one at some point, just wanna find the best one! the silverstone one looks a bit quicker

Most of the youtube videos are shit, every time I've been allowed to drive the cars hard, but no where near the full potential.

Most of the time i was overtaking, most of the people who attend drive soooooo slow, it adds to to experience blasting past them.

They just evaluate how good/shit you are on your first lap, then go from there. At the end of the day they want to put minamal strian on £100k+ cars, even going in a gravel traps is going to cost a few ££££ replacing the undertray
