Full Lock Knock (lol)

Featured Replies

Hey guys..

Recently, my car has been knocking whilst on full lock. However, it is only when full locking the car to the left. The faster i go, the faster the knock gets too. Its like theres something catching but i cant see anything under the arch that could be to fault.

- I thought it would have been my blue wheel bolts as these were longer than standard.. changed them back - still the same.

- Tightened up the topmounts - still the same.

- Had the car tracked and camber adjusted professionally - still the same.

The strange thing is.. Its ONLY when i full lock it to the left going forward. If i full lock right, nothing. If i reverse left, nothing. If i reverse right, nothing. Its only going forward to the left. As said about the faster i go, the faster the noise gets..

Also when I'm going along as normal down a road.. it sounds as if theres something with a bit of play in it, very light knocking sound as if there was a lose topmount or something to do with the suspention.. but its all tight..

Anyone got any ideas at all?

Any help asap would be great!!

Aaron

So the noise increases with speed yeah?

So likely to be something catching or a CV joint or wheel bearing maybe?

Have you tried jacking the car up, and jacking the wheel back up to ride height, putting it on full lock and turning it and seeing if you can replicate the noise?

Hmmm.. i could do that i guess :\ I've been reading up on it here and most common answer is outer cv joint.. hmm... would it be worth replacing the whole driveshaft instead of just the joint?

What car is it? and have you lowered it?

This used to happen to me on my coupe

Turned out to be a wheel weight catching the ARB.

Could it be the power steering?

I mean is the power steering loose?

Hmm not sure..

I've bought a pair of drive shafts for £40 so gunna see if these do the trick, if not.. the search continues.. shall keep updated
