ok looking for the actindoeual location of the electric window relay, and where i can get a replacement as both front windows dont opperate and the fuse is ok, when the buttons are used there is no tell tail click from any relay

Have a look in the rubber boot between the door and the a post. Slide the ruined boot back and have a look for Brocken wires (usually the brown one) failing that then take the door card off and wiggle the wiring on the motor itself (this is after where your connector fit, have a feel), if it's damaged then it needs soldering back.

I don't think there is a relay on the 6n1 as its all in the switch.

would the same cable problem effect both doors at the same time?

wiring diagram shows relay "j51" where ever that is, swopped at tested both switches and all seems ok

There is also a grey wire which is for the lighting.

It's more than likely that it will effect both doors as its cause by friction between the wires when the doors are opened and closed. Its an overlooked fault from vw as the route the cables take is to sharp of an angle. All the polo I have owned and all my friends cars have had this problem.

there is no clicking at the doors....and the lights on the switches themselves work fine.....
