Also the truck drivers are fucking stupid too, they are striking because they are having to do more runs in a shift, but all this panic buying they have caused is going to mean they are going to have to do even more deliveries over the next few days to keep up with demand

I nipped into a BP garage near chelford to grab some munch between work , the line was around HALF A MILE long!

I obviosly Just cut through the line, got shouted at by some woman, before she realised I wasnt getting fuel, idiot.

Some Merc driver was at the till about to pay via card, then the electric cut out, He was fuming, shouting hes been waiting an hour to fill up and now couldnt leave until he had someway to £90

Fucking idiots. They are training army staff to drive the tankers so even if there is a strike the fuel will still be delivered. The only way we will have shortages is by people panic buying, no doubt the petrol stations will 'adjust' their prices to make the most of the panic

The local Shell has been putting the price up by exactly 1p a day for the last week. Diesel here is currently sitting at 149.9p, Petrol is 144.9p (i feel sorry for people who fill up with V-Power @ 157.9p)

Also the training of extra drives can't be legal surely? It kind of makes their strike completely pointless. The whole idea behind going on strike is that it causes enough disruption for people to actually shut the fuck up and listen to what you have to say. By training extra drivers to make sure there is no fuel shortage, who the fuck is even going to notice any difference? I didn't even know about this strike until I came on here so I guess the Govt plan is working quite well at the moment.

I literally thought it was just the Shell being a bit more greedy than usual.

Also when i was filling my ped i literly put my fuel cap back on closed seat headed towards desk to see some matey filling his jerry can when my ped was there? like it was the last petrol fill ever.. i then went to pay but it wasnt the £10 i put in but was £20 went out confronted this guy and he said he didnt reliase i didnt pay yet i told him i only put £5 so he forked out his petrol and £5 of mine

Might have to invest in a bit of hose pipe and a large jerry can if all the cars are full.

Just put a fiver in mine that will do till Friday. Guarantee we won't even notice a loss of fuel just a rise in cost as usual

It was ridiculous earlier, I went to about 4 petrol stations to try and get some petrol. The largest one was a Shell garage, every single unleaded pump had an 'out of service' sign on it, and the queues were huge.

How good is this for the petrol suppliers...fuel prices are at an all time high and they're selling shit loads.

I saw David Cameron and one of his flunkies on the telly last night saying it might be an idea to keep some spare

fuel handy...just in case...those arseholes are just adding to the fucking problem by sending out mixed messages.

Bollocks. These tanker drivers on average earn more than twice as much as a nurse, and a nurse could tell these truck drivers a thing or two about working conditions, safety in the work place and having to do more for less.

As Andy says if they don't like it then go find another job, they won't tho because where else are they going to get paid 50k a year for driving a lorry? I think they are paid more than enough for what they do. They drive a lorry from one place to another dropping stuff off as they go, the next step down the ladder is a van courier and just under that is a pizza delivery boy

I got a couple of mates that got there hgv a few years back and they recon its a piece of piss job, they may not be carrying massive amounts of highly volatile liquid about, but they also ain't on nearly 50k a year

I've got half a tank left in the derv, that'll run me another 300 miles :p

Stupid how the prices have spiked in anticipation of shortages, in less than seven days my local petrol station has gone from £1.44 to £1.51 for diesel.......

Thankfully i've just got a job in my town, no more 55 mile return drive to work anymore (rolling the valver on the way home one morning was the last straw).

Mountain bike's being rebuilt as we speak, won't be a patch on the one some arse stole the other summer, though.

I'm riding work again now .. only work a mile away from home so make sense as its actully quicker lol ..

I love the way BP always keep themselves as the most expensive. Even in a fuel crisis!

That's why i never go there. They raise the bar, all the others then compete just below it. BP single handedly prop the cost of fuel up and effectively dictate how much fuel costs.

The more fuel they sell, the more they raise the cost, the more fuel costs everywhere.
