Just got my radio code for my vw polo 9n from vw and I was wondering if there is a certain way you have to put it in. I tried just putting the digits in but nothing happened

Assuming you have a standard VW radio??

Radio units “ALPHA”, “BETA”, “GAMMA”

– Switch radio unit on.

– “SAFE” appears on digital display.

– After approx. 3 seconds “1000” appears on display.

– With the help of station buttons 1 to 4 enter code number applied on radio card. Use button 1 to enter the first digit of the code number, button 2 to enter the 2nd digit and so on.

– Then press the search function -1- or manual setting -2- rocker switch for longer than 2 seconds. Release buttons.

If the correct code has been entered the actual radio frequency will appear after a short “learning phase”. During this pause the stations with the best reception will be automatically stored to an internal memory list and can be called up. The LED on the lower left of the radio must flash when the ignition key is removed. When the diode flashes the radio is ready-for-use and the anti-theft coding is activated.

also if you do as above and it still doesnt work, then somebody has probably changed the radio in the past. usually when this happens, you turn it on and off a few times and it will communicate with the car. if its the original then it will unlock by itself. so maybe vw has given you the code for the original radio but this is a different unit?

Thank you very much !

I had my battery changed this is why I needed my code again. I ha another head unit in and it wouldn't turn on. But once I put te factory one in and put the code in does it take a while for the system to accept the radio because I unplugged the radio after a few ours. Tried my other headunit and it wouldn't work. I then connected the factory again and it was asking for the Code. Is this te reason why my other headunit isn't working because it was working fine when I dropped it off before battery change

After I unplug my battery and then re connect my battery, all I have to do is turn radio on and then it comes up with 'safe' and then '1000' after a few seconds, so I then turn the radio off and turn the key without starting the car and then turn the radio on and then it says 'learn' and then I press either FM and it starts working :)
