Yo.

Having issues with my warning light, has been on ever since carb conversion but I put a temp one in for now.

The light flashes and beeps whenever it picks up a rev signal.

Will beep one, then again, then just flash the light.

Have tried:

Revs spliced to clocks

Revs spliced to ecu

Ecu connected

Ecu not connected

Connected oil pressure switch

Replicating having an oil pressure switch

Can't get rid of it, I'd like it tO work properly...

Diagrams show just the Switch to ground, and the other side to whichever pin on the instrument cluster.

It won't work at all with rev feed disconnected. But obviously I want a rev counter.

I don't mind having the other warning light, but then I'm into removing the buzzer and light from my IP.

Any ideas?

When it's connected up, just with ignition on, it beeps, but not connected, it won't beep.

Until you start up, then it will.

Have you got a diagram of connections onto the warning buzzer?

I think the buzzer is used for headlights and the oil pressure, where I only wan it to beep for headlights

You'll struggle if not impossible to get a diagram of the internal connections I think the buzzzer could also be used in some countries for the seat belt warning, so basically there will be a single output from chip to the buzzer and internally the chip will switch the output on when one or more of the conditions (OP, lights on etc) I'm wondering if it's something that you might be able to enable/dissable via vagcom ???? in Elsawin it tells you how to test the various warnings, have'nt found yet if you can disable anything yet!!

Ok in that case, would it be possible to temporary put the dissmantled unit back into the car and run the engine, then artificially simulate a low pressure and check which connection to the buzzer has power to it?

see on the diagrams all I can find is "oil warning buzzer" with two connections to it, I can't even find te warning buzzer for the headlights on Elsawin

I've just totally dismantled my speedo unit (newer type) and the two legs at the bottom of the horn are just physical support legs, the top right is the +Ve supply so the left must be a switched earth but I can't follow where it goes to the pcb track goes off in so many directions!!

As you say, in none of the diagrams can I find a mention of headlights on buzzer??? Yet it is listed as the buzzer in the speedo?

So it looks like. suffer with the oil buzzer or have no headlights on warning

Ones a ground but the live, do they alter the current to this to change the beep tone?

It's a strange one, definitely can't find another buzzer on the board anywhere! And only two contacts.

I can remove the SMD for warning light.

Do you have to have the headlamp warning?

The +Ve supply goes to a 20K ohm resistor, but the other one goes off through the pcb into so many directions.

The smd led for LOP goes down through a 68 ohm resistor then onto a chip

It's only to remind you to switch them off to avoid flat batt? Isn't a requirement for MOT is it?

Not any sort of requirement, just a nice convience, if you still wanted the h/lights on buzzer, get one from a 96~97 model wher it's a separate relay in the fusebox??

Did your LCD units come out OK?

In the bottom pic, the chip just to the right of centre controls the LED's, the input for the LOP is pin 16 tried following that back and it goes to the main chip under the buzzer, so the switching is all done in that chip and that will control the buzzer as well

if you can keep the headlight warning then i suggest you do. I've been driving my mk2 for over a year now and i still forgot to turn them off twice today. lucky i bought a new battery last week!

All good except the clock doesn't work and only half the trip display works, will clean contacts.

& will address light buzzer :)

You removed the LOP LED as well ??

In answer to an earlier Q you have to have a high beam warning, now an MOT item !!

Just get a buzzer relay from an earlier car if you want the lights on buzzer :-)

Can you read the part number of the main chip thats under the buzzer, it's not that clear on your posting?

Tbh it never really bothered me lol. It's so nice not to have a light flashing in my face haha! May put a buzzer on my other oil light incase though!

On my Manta & Escort rally cars I fitted a second LOP switch that operated @ 25~30psi and that was wired to a big warning light so it gave a bit earlier warning and you could kill the engine before any real damage was done as by the time the normal one operates @ 4psi it's usually to late
