Used to be able to get them off here from Jackson tuning section.

No stainless bolts in the ebay ones, they look well otherwise. The clamping tubes look stainless. The two centring clamps are a flawed design because only one side is ever working at any time, and they don't fit late type arb's properly - this flawed part of the design just seems to be copied everytime the blocks are copied.. (I used a panhard rod design to keep mine centred).

Good price though, excellent value for the difference they make to handling and the way the car feels!

People have been using them for years, I'm sure you'll be fine.

People have been fitting them for years yes, in some cases with one clamp pissed because the ARB doesn't have the margin for it on one side, doesn't mean it's ideal. Obviously the clamp should be butt square to the side of the polymer block or else it cuts a cresent into the side and creates margin for play (even if minor). Plenty of symmetrical 5-speed ARB's still about though, allowing both sides to sit square and work as designed.

The off-white ones i made are 'oiled nylon'. I'm not familiar with different types of nylon and their properties, but the bloke had a short metre of 40x20 cheap, he said oiled would be good for making steel tubing brackets where the tubing vibrates/moves so that's what i got. He only had white though

You can cure the angled donut clamp problem by fitting a mk2 5-speed arb.

Also, why would you use stainless bolts? They are weaker than even the standard ARB bolts.

yeah i was gona say you cant get real high tensile bolts in stainless ..well not easily anyway

Plated then, either way not what appears to be the industrially common electrostatic coating in that pic, as they just don't offer anywhere near enough corrosion protection in the tyre line on a vehicle..

Even with my solid billet ally mounts, which i used for a few years, i only used fully threaded 8.8 tensile bolts. I'm pretty sure the weak point is the thread welded to the body panel.

Spot on Mikey. You may remember on my breadvan I broke the captive nut spot welds on the rear passenger side mount. And I've just this weekend torqued the bolts to 22 lb ft and stripped the thread on my new 85 coupe shell on the same bolt. Will somehow get a nut on the back held in place with a socket (should be easier as currently don't have a radiator fitted)

be careful out there though, it's a dangerous world. definitely a weak spot and a flawed design if you ask me.

22 is about right for those - but that's 22 nm not 22 lb ft! We're not American!

IIRC my haynes says 22 lb ft. Thats what my torque wrench scales at. So yes, I must be a little bit, thanks eBay. Yeehaa
