Currently a junior management trainer in the RAF, which used to include teaching this

amongst other things. Got made redundant in june under the defence cuts, which means I leave the RAF in june this year, but actually finish work next friday!

I work for SamsungRetail UK,

and hopefully soon to start with the HWA (Highways Agency) and become HATO (Highways Agency Traffic Officer).

But 1st I will be in the Control Room - Can't wait, all I have to do is pass my Interview on Wed!

Traffic Womble!

Damn right, can get the same pay and less responsibility then a Police Officer. :) WinWin for me.

That type of money to drive around all day, and enjoy patrolling the motorways.

I'm not into Euro, but that's some dish!

Traffic womble is a few k less /year than most PO will start on ~ 23.5k which I think given the job they do is too low.

It's a good service, but there's a prick near us who parks in what was a Police vehicles only layby (about 500yds from the services) and you can see drivers anchoring up as they see him sitting there having a brew, f'in dangerous and he needs a slap.

olop23- Cool job

I basically fix most of the army's fleet working for a company called DSG. mostly land rovers and their converted models, a few cvrt's and lorries. Good fun but no pics allowed! Official secrets act in place!

Well remember I was training as a Special, but they have just put the pay down for new starters on becoming a Police Officer which is now - £19 (dropped 4k) - So that idea is out the window for my career in the police.

About the laybay, most will have the signs removed that say police and having new ones fitted saying; authorised vehicles only.

I get to play with lovely HIFI kit and home cinema instal and equipment

I work for Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems loctaed in Coventry UK and Akron, Ohio USA

Hah, what are the odds?

I started there in September, working in Softwear according to my ID badge :?

If you're ever around JBD, take a look in the car park, I'm not too hard to spot :-)

I've seen your car, the red 6N with the black BBS's

Yup, that's the one. Which building are you in? (not that I'll actually know where it is. I know my building, the lab, and pretty much everything else is a mystery. Particularly the bits that occasionally go 'bang' )

No6 factory up by the canteen in Hydraulic assembly. I guess you will be working with Matt and Jon. i do occasionally pop down the JBD and the Lab but avoid it if i can- its so quiet i just have the urge to scream and scare everyone

Been working on so much different stuff that's really coming together/complete now over the last year or so, will chuck some pics and videos up later

You and me clearly live in different worlds, I thought it was fairly quiet when I started but now I have to have music on otherwise I get distracted by the general office noise.

I work with Matt fairly often, not so much Jon yet but that's mainly because I haven't had much work to do with Systems. You've probably walked past me loads of times, I'm the hairy guy behind Matt who looks like he's about to punch the next person who dares to sneeze too loudly :-)

  • 1 month later...

I no longer work at tesco as I got offered an apprenticship with DHL.

Working here..

aaaaand, driving these..

DHL have started an apprenticeship scheme as there currently class 1 and 2 lorry drivers average age is 48 so they are beginning to lower it by hiring a younger generation.

It's a 1 year process where I begin with just a driving licence to being a drivers mate where you take calls, organise delivery, carry loads etc etc, the boring stuff basically.

After 10 weeks you sit your Class 2 so that you can drive the above, I'm soon to be sitting my Class 1 so that I can drive these beauty's.

3E842814-11DC-40CA-8C6F-CC72C5E5A43F-248

Where the wage exceeds £35,000, being just 20 I am chuffed with the opportunity and if anyone has any questions fire away, I'm the first apprentice Argos has taken on for this role over the whole of the UK so I feel quite priveliged. :D

Nice one ^ 35k at 20 would be pretty tasty

I start my new job Monday can't wait - ill still be playing with carbon fibre but with a company who's main focus is Motorsport (mainly formula one)

Woooo

Pretty awesome opportunity, getting a HGV licence privately is effing expensive. I know a chap in the US who has his own truck so works for himself, he's 26 and I think he said he makes triple figures but because he has a sleeper cab he doesn't own a house or anything; all of his bills are fuel, food and repairs, everything else is profit.

I work at a small company called Saxon Motorsport in Hereford, where we take your average street car strip it completely cut almost all the panels and floors out and rebuild it again as a GT3 type sort of endurance car which we face in the VLN championship at the Nurburgring. People say it sounds like a dream job but when you're working 12 days for weeks without days off during the racing season and then have to travel to all the races as pit crew and stuff it can take its toll. We also have our own in hous rolling road facility which we built, we spend a lot of time mapping and tuning on that with our own cars and customers. We currently have 2 big projects on the go for cars the first one we started for the endurance series was a BMW 1 series hatch (sorry no VAG here) with the twin turbo diesel from a 5 series . But the newer car we're still building is our baby, it's another 1 series with the 5.0L V10 from an M5 not finished yet but not too far off, so that should be fun when she's making her target 600bhp! :retard:

If anyone wants to know more www.saxon-motorsport.co.uk

I'll get some better pictures and sort through them cos most are just from racing and all look the same haha

That the same Saxon Motorsport who do karting stuff aswel? Lots of Biland parts etc?

Yeah same one matey. We're the only distributor in the UK!

Ah right, didn't even realise you did like cars and stuff! I jus knew you as the place to buy any Wildkart components from haba

Yeah that's us. We've got bits and pieces and pieces for karts left but we don't do so much now other than engine builds and our kart engine dyno work for customers.

Can't tell you.... commercial sensitivity..... :ninja:

Collielaa: Just this week i went back in to lorry driving full time. I just been dosing for a year driving a van and driving lorries on bank holidays and a couple of weekends for extra £££. There is some good money in it out there, i was chuffed when i got paid £950 cash to drive over the Royal wedding bank holiday weekend (4 days, 3 nights out).

But if i left it any longer i was going to find it harder to get back into it full time (Most companies want atleast a couple of hundred hours driving time in the last 2yrs before they even read your CV) so just started a cool one where its only Mon-Fri day work and no nights out.

Tanker work is where I'm heading probably.

EDIT: The pimp mobile, brand new and built in sat nav, no bed though which is wank!

The money's definately there and that's exactly what I do but I just fall to sleep with my head on the window drooling :p in only a drivers mate currently so don't do much driving.

I do eventually want to do tankers too, that would be awesome!
