Having had a number of cars in my soon to be 5 years of driving including a 1990 mini, 1871 beetle, mk2,mk3 and mk4 golfs then a string of diesels a mk1.5 115, a mk2 focus then my most recent Fiesta zetec-s TDCI. All were reliable cars pretty fun daily the 2nd focus was a pile of crap but the first one was nippy and handled great plus the fiesta was lowered with lots of mod-cons to keep me entertained on the daily commute

The time came I felt like another upgrade in my ever increasing car history and after looking at 140 GT TDI MK5 Golfs I gave up trying to find a decent one in my budget and decided to pick up a civic. Took a couple but found a lovely Vivid blue ES 1 previous owner full dealer history but it has a scuff down the passanger side which is a real shame as everything else is fine! Either way I put my deposit down on the 3rd April and collected on the 5th, love the torque compared to my previous dervs & <3 the panoramic roof! Need to remove the tow bar and move the parrot hands free to some where less annoying!

Anyway Ill be updating soon I have a few plans nothing major at the moment but here you go so far:

They are pretty funky! Check out the type-r interior:

They are really curved too which you can't tell too much from those images

First plan is to change the grill to the type-r grill like the one below and break up those perspex lines, this civic started off identical to mine but the owner has added type-r splitters and sideskirts, eibach springs, bbs wheels and type-r spoiler

Ordered a folding mirror module so they fold when the car is remote locked rather then just a button and a USB ciggy charger as I don't smoke and they look tidy plus dead useful with my phone!

Few things I need to sort out

• Some faded driver side door trim around the window buttons.
• Gearknob is pretty worn might get something abit nicer then the standard to replace it
• The previous owner left the car abit messy on the interior, as you can see in the images below the centre console storage area is filthy! Scared to go near it in-case it moves or talks to me
• Seats dont look too bad tbh and the image is poor as I just got out the car but plan to give them a good scrub anyway
• New carpets, I threw out the ones in the front straight away they were buggered up and ripped, some nice new genuine Honda ones I think
• Find a new false floor for the boot as I currently have a hole
• Order sport or type-s mesh style grill
• Move the parrot to a more discreet location

Some nice beading tho!

I quite like these, had a couple in on test and where I used to work there were loads of them being used as company cars and pool cars. I was always driving them about!

Drive well too, driving position is good, handling too, and the engine's plenty gutsy enough for daily use. Plus you get quite a cool interior with the suede-style sports seats and that driver-oriented dashboard. They've really toned down the new one - the really nice bits like the dished steering wheel, boiled sweet hazard warning light button and floating gauges are gone. Shame, really.

But yeah, that dark blue is a wise choice, very smart!

Yep it was a company car from new, one service stamp goes up 40k in about 6months! Its been looked after tho with lots of honda stamps and receipts including all original hand over docs. Performance is good too give a Polo GTI a run for its money happily standard. Handling is decent too it rolls around abit when driving around town and fairly slower speeds but if you're giving it some then it seems to stiffen up and has a fairly firm ride for a stock car! I love the interior while it looks abit OTT at first its all really simple and easy to use but one thing I must say these cars are good value for money!

I picked this up for less then I sold my 07 Fiesta TDCI for which had 100k on it too, I did look at a number of GT 140 TDI MK5 Golfs but a decent 04-05 plate with around 80k was a good 1.5-2k more then this and 07 facelift 140s even with 100k+ were fetching private and at auction a good 2.5k more! Nice as they may be I (1) Cannot afford that extra and (2) Couldn't justify the extra over the civic, ok the golf is abit higher quality but its no better performance or economy plus lower reliability then the civic! Not many cars you can put the TDI against and say that

Wouldn't say its that bad, as Alex said one of the best interiors out there and a great driving position, they handle pretty good and the diesel has very smooth power delivery happily to 100+ and leaves many other cars standing. The reason I think it feels bland is the steering feels over assisted at times I dont find the car all that much fun regardless of its decent performance and handling.... fun isn't about figures or what it can do its a feeling, the driver gets very little feedback or feel for the steering, its a perfect car for long journeys and motoways but the country roads like I'm doing I have been left abit disapointed, the fiesta and my mk1 focus were far more fun!

Anyway new grill on makes the front look much better which I fitted today
