So, I filled out my V5 document to inform the DVLA that the engine that I had previously changed (same 1272cc) was now 1306cc.

They return an unmodified V5.

Two days later a letter arrives telling me that I must provide evidence from the list below:

a receipt of purchase on headed paper, from a garage, confirming the engine number engine size (CC) and the fuel type for the replacement engine.

an inspection report from an organisation such as the AA or RAC.

an inspection report provided for insurance purposes, or

written confirmation from the engine manufacturer showing the engine number and size.

So I'm trying to declare my vehicle legitimately as it is and DVLA just throw a bunch of correspondance related hurdles in the path of my simple actions!

So second thought is fuck them, i'll just inform the insurance and the DVLA can carry on running their show with their heads firmly shoved up their own arseholes!

I have removed the engine from one car, had it re-bored, changed the relevant components and now it's displacement it 1306cc. Having carried out the works myself the only receipt I have is from the machine shop saying what work was carried out. There is no mention on the paperwork of engine number cc or new cc or even how much it was over-bored.

So I'm thinking I did the work, I am the garage that carried out all the work, i can provide proof of the works in receipts etc. I shall have to invoice myself in order to change my V5. which I'm really not that bothered about. Fucking joke.

Anyone else had this issue?

I wrote a guide on changing this, but as mine was an engine change I had a receipt for the engine.

I know people in the past have written letters explaining they're qualified mechanics and such and it being changed.

So your on same engine number, just slight CC increase?

I'm on new engine number, but increase capacity for that engine code.

I've just declared my GT block on my new shell to the DVLA just by putting the capacity and the engine code on. We shall see
