Some months ago i bought these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/FK-Automotive-Powe...e/dp/B006SKE1AG . Got 'em fitted in perfectly and i am now thinking of getting a HID kit for them, but are they capable of it without blinding people too much? I've read something about its highly recommended to use "DE"-lenses (the ones that looks like "an eye"), but those are C-lenses.

I would also know how to avoid getting "pulled over" by the police, would adjusting the bulbs a bit more down help? The reason i wanna stick with HID is that none of the "xenon-like" bulbs can match it - neither in lightning or the color itself. The HID kit I'm thinking of is just a typical 6000k kit.

Yeah they will, I've got HID's in mine. Have your bulbs facing the ground, that way you won't blind anyone.

Hi. what level adjustment do you use? I can make them face the ground yes, but they should light up the way aswell.

Dont forget, without self leveling and power wash, they are MOT failure, therfeore if you are in an accident the insurance co may well invalidate your insurance :(

Hey. Yea thats true, it will probably fail the MOT but i will put some stock 55w halogen bulbs in the car instead of the HID's when its time.. I live in Denmark, but its still a possibility, i really dont hope that it will invalidate my ensurance. Thats probably something i will have to investigate further.

So you drive your car in Denmark? Or in the uk? I ask because if you are in Europe then they are fine, but if you use these in the uk, Australia Japan etc.. It will not be a good idea because they are lhd and as a result they will blind on coming drivers as they dip to the left not the right. And any reflector or projector headlight can have HID kits fitted to them, as long as they are correctly aligned.

You shouldn't have to adjust them down, just make sure they are correct, they should be iirc 1.2% lower at ten metres. Best way of doing this is to get a garage to check them with a beam setter, I'm not sure on the road laws of Denmark but I'm assuming they have some sort of annual/biannual test like an mot? And I'm sure that they will have the equipment to set it up correctly. The lights are designed to not dazzled oncoming traffic, if they are aligned properly then they will do there job right.

is it that easy? the car doesnt have any auto adjustment of the headlights, nor any headlight washers.

These are not neccessary as that is only for new cars produced after the law came in, AND that Is only for the UK. I am not sure abou Denmark's laws concerning this but I would imagine it is relaxed compared to ours. I know that in Spain all that is required is that you carry a spare set of replacement bulbs at all times (hid or not).

At the end of the day this is a grey area, and all you can do is make sure you have everything setup as it should be, then if anyone argues it you have legs to stand on.

JUst wondering because I've wanted HID's for two years and I've finally got to a point where i can get them and the law changes, how hard would it be to fit self levelling and washer jets to a 6n? I've already de wiper-ed the back so I've got a spare washer jet feed running to the front of the car, could i just chuck a couple of jets in the bumper and use it off the stock switch? and how expensive/hard are self levellers to fit?

Like I said you don't need them as the 6n polos where made between 94 an 00. If you had an 11 or 12 plate polo then this would apply and as such vw would stock a retrofit kit, but they do not for older cars. As I say it's a grey area and as long as the beams are correct, the lights are not damaged and fitted securely then this meets the standard and the tester should pass it. However as the new "rule" hasnt really been explained to all testers or some don't understand it properly, your tester could either pass it or fail it, it's at there discretion. As for fitting self leveling to the lights, until they come up with a standardized kit that's approved they cannot expect people with older cars to magically have them fitted.

Just checked with my ensurance conditions/terms. Nothing is mentioned there, so i think its still covering. . Got the HID's fitted. There's 2 adjusters. A inner and a outer adjuster. I have only tried to use the outer adjuster, can anyone tell me what the inner adjuster is used for? Got the lights fitted right and cant get my thick fingers behind them to adjust.

We took it out in the darkness yesterday and tried to adjust the lamps.... Not really that good to use Powerlooks with xenons.. It threw the light all over the place even though i had been setting it to the lowest adjustment as possible. While it was adjusted that low, it didn't give that much light either.

I decided to buy some angel eyes, as those got the DE-lense which (according to at least danish car forums) is a MUST if you are using Xenon.

Yes, generally projector (DE) lights are better for hid lights then reflector lights.

I have the depo lights on my 6n and the cutoff is MUCH better then reflector lifts.

the inner adjuster is for side to side adjustment and the outer is for up and down adjustment.

The trick to adjusting them is to park around ten meters from a wall and put the lights on and at position 0 then turn on the main beams. You then use the inner adjusters to align the main beams so they are the same distance apart and from the ground. Then turn off the main beam and have the dipped beam on then align then With the outer adjuster.

It is best to use the proper equipment to align them but you can get it very close by using this method.
