VW mk2 Golf Alpine White 3 door Driver

I am just putting this on here to see if anyone wants to swap for anything interesting or cheaper to run. Making a near on weekly trip from Sunderland to Kent has made me consider a cheaper car and I feel bad for racking up the mileage, though I am not looking forward to letting the Golf go.

I have had the Golf for nearly a year now, and since that time I have had no mechanical problems, apart from one wheel bearing which was replaced less than a month ago. Other than this it has been truly wonderful.

VW Golf Driver

1.6 with twin choke Weber 32/34 conversion (have original Pierburg also)

GTI camshaft

engine is on around 155k (was on 150 when I replaced the standard clocks with early GTI ones, that now show 94k)

GTI seats, black carpet, early GTI steering wheel and clocks

Coilovers

ATS Cups 15x7 (I would be keeping these, unless I get offered a suitable compromise as I only recently bought them!)

MOT until end of May

Tax until end of May

Oil change last week, new HT leads, new brake pads, new wheel bearing.

Bad points

There aren't many, though some rust is creeping up around the n/s front wheel arch under the plastic cover, and around the o/s rear arch. structurally the car is good for rust, though there are slight areas over the car where there is a small amount of rust coming through, and an area on the n/s sill that has been repaired before. This won't be needed for the next MOT.

The mileage on the new clocks does'nt go up all the time, only sometimes, but this doesn't really matter as they aren't showing the correct mileage anyway.

I am not really prepared to sell this as I need another car straight away, but for the forum rules I will advertise the car as £1000ono without the wheels.

I am more interested in some sort of swap, something cheaper to run, possibly a diesel, possibly another VW, possibly something older, something smaller, something bigger, open to any suggestions! If this doesn't sell, I will happily keep it, so no rush :)
