mk3 Polo GT alternator?

hi, i have a mk3 polo gt (1991) .. i was wondering if anyone knew what current the alternator is? and if i could get a more powerful one .. way more powerful. (i want to power a Orion HCCA 15.2 (5000W Peak (2500RMS) and a Orion D5000 amp (5000W Peak (2500RMS) as well as my other amp for my other components. really want to upgrade as i dont want to be changing batteries all the time :/ thanks!

most polos are 55amp and G40 is 65Amp. there are a few odd ball ones out there that break the rule but generally thats what they have.

few people have changed the pulley and fitted mk4 polo items but they tend to slip on 1 side. but they go all the way up to 110amp which is probubally where you want to be.

Mk2 golf ones can be fitted to non G40 polos but you need to make a wee metal plate to hold it in position as the mounting points are a wee bit different. - there is a guide on here somewhere.

If you do double the alternator output size, remember that you should also fit an extra output lead to carry the extra current. It is better to fit an extra one, rather than replace the existing one with a heavier cable, as by doing so, you retain more flexibility - essential to avoid mechanical failure. (of the cable.)
