mot on wednesday and was checking everything yesterday and noticed the front left cv gaitor has moved down the drivshift into the wheel. its secure on the wheel end and on the driveshaft and no leaking grease or any cracks or tears. but its all squashed up now into the wheel, id say its moved a inch or 2 down. very noticable. is this a fail or will it be allright. I'm tempted to tery move it back but i dontn wanna rip the thing

I'm confused, if it's still on the shaft and the CV joint and isn't leaking what's the issue? How could it have moved lol? Or do you mean the CV joint has compressed up pushing the gaiter toward the wheel?

cv joint is fine. its just the rubber gaitor that I'm concerned about. basically, its moved about an inch further down the dhaft towards the cvjoint. so its all squashed up. illl post some pics

Unsquish it and cable tie the small end and its fine

Ahh I see, tbh I'd try and ease it back up the shaft so it sits properly, maybe more susceptible to splitting as it is.

Secure with a band clamp, or decent cable tie should be ok

I was gonna mention a bit of lube may help with easing it up there

Plus lube may prevent it splitting and getting a mess everywhere :)

ill do it tmoz then kinda knew id get an obvious answer but last thing i would do is prob tear it lol

Hmmmm... Ease it up that shaft... Not too hard, maybe lube it up a little, and where some gloves to get a better grip of both the rubber and your shaft!

I would't lube it personally if you can get away with it - fresh wetness in the area might be mistaken for escaping grease.

clean it off after....

ill try ease it first then lube after if too dry :p

just a small amount of lube to help it move easier is all, not drown the entire shaft in a heavy grease lol.
