MK2 golf

Featured Replies

I had a mk2 polo, but with that using as much oil as it did petrol, and both the oil and petrol ended up on the floor. I decided i was going to have to get rid of the polo, And with my brother having a mk2 gti sitting in the garage with a blown up engine, i took on the task of putting a new engine in that and was going to use that. So i set about building up a new engine. It consisted of a 2.0l bottom end from a mk3 gti and the 1.8 head from the mk2 gti, and a fast road cam.

Engine all built up and ready to go in

Later on that day engine in and nearly all connected

And then here it is tucked away in it's new home minus a front bumper

Then after driving it round with no end of problems for a while i treat it to some coilovers when it was running right

Then had a bit of trouble getting it into the garage :(

Then after that the engine decided it didn't like oil anymore and kept on spitting the oil out, so after a new oil pump, new oil filter housing and obviously new oil filter and oil, it just spat the oil out as soon as the engine ran, so i put it int he garage after getting really pissed off with it haha.

then took the head off one Saturday afternoon.

Then poured some paraffin down the bores and left it overnight to see if is drained down into the sump, so next morning went round tot he garage and yup, its gone straight down into the sump.

So that left me to decide what to do with it, rebuild the engine or find a donor car, that's when i stumbled across a p-reg passat gt that someone was breaking with the original 1.8L PB engine code that came in the mk2 gti

So the engine coming out of the passat and having a mini rebuild then going back into the golf

So that brings me up to date with the car, Anyway thanks for reading
