had a guy attach it to vagcom and told me it was the diesel pump stop valve

so i took it off and it looks like this:

nobody stocks this part anymore so is there any way of cleaning it?

i turned the key without it in and fuel bubbled in the hole where it was so fuel is deffinetly getting through to it.

Also, it had 2 wires attached to it, one of them was an earth, any idea what they are for?

The car cranks fine but just won't start up

any ideas?

As well as cleaning it (is that a spider crawling round the thread?) I would suggest that you check that it is the fuel cut-off valve that is at fault, as it is also possible that its control unit is not working.

If you have a multi-meter, check that there is in fact a circuit through the valves windings, if you only have a voltmeter or even a test light, check between those two wires that the valve connects to, but you need to do this as soon as the 'ignition' is turned off.

If all else fails, I have a feeling (only a feeling, mind) that if you remove the middle 'O' ring and replace the valve, it will allow the engine to start, the problem would then be that you would have to stall the engine in order to stop it, so this would not be a viable permanent repair.

The two wires go to the control unit, which in turn is fed from the immobilizer.
