2004 Husqvarna WRE

Featured Replies

After a while of not owning a bike, i came across this beast on a website. The chap wanted 400 for it as a none runner. After a lot of blaggling ( blagging+haggling= BLAGGLING) I picked it up for £250. Its an '04 Husky WRE. Its also well and truly fucked, the bottom end is seized solid. However, everything else seems to be in quite decent condition.

first night i got it, set about getting the head off. Things looked bleak, however after a quick lunch break on the parts washer its come up gleaming with no scoring on the cylinder. Unfortunately though theres a bit of damage and a crack on the carb flange. Powervalve isnt sticking though and looks to be usable. Might get away with reusing this head, may need replating/boring out though. The other night i decided the full engine needed to come out for further analysis.

As the more keen of you may observe here, its fucked. Not had a chance to clean it up and get some lube round it yet though so hopefully i may have it up and running from a full rebuild. If not its time to look for engines, whatevers cheap 2t and local will do a treat. Unsure of whether I'm just going to use it off road and injure myself or to throw tax and test on it and maim myself on the roads.

So far it needs:

rebuild/replace engine

Possibly a new rad (not got round to pressure testing it)

Some 2 stroke.

New grips.

New pegs.

Brakes bleesing.

Aiming to have it done for summer, If i dont youve all got permission to come down and slap me. xoxox
