Featured Replies

Halfrauds is ok for consumables as long as YOU know what yo get. Oil, bulbs etc

Oh also sometimes worth the trip there when they have an offer on the cleaning products

The amount of halfords bikes I've seen where the front forks are on the wrong way round !

Be aware, HALFORDS are opening up garages all over the place! do not let them touch your car!

tbh, the only thing its good for is tools, the pro range is decent.

i bought a rear wiper off them using the guide. wobbles around all over the place, doesnt clip on properly lol.

Cba to change it though, does the job for how often i use the rear wiper.

Sort of mayte, they baught nationwide autocentres out so same staff and mechanics just different name on garage and uniform. Still wouldnt trust them tho ;)

halfords proffesional tools are good, and the trade card but anything else uh oh....

Yeah i get there pro tools but still waiting for me trade card the bloke at halfords keeps promising me hes coming to my work to drop one off but 3 weeks have been and no card. I've been in to c him and he still says hes gunna bring 1 out

Cant fault the tools, been smashing fuck out of some 12 point sockets on an air gun for the last 2 years and not broke one yet  And as fir the trade card any member of staff can do it, i had one of the bike bitches do mine :D

It's like anything really. Pay peanuts and get monkeys. I view halfords as a supermarket for cars. I wouldn't walk into sainsburys and ask any member of staff for a decent cut of beef, I'd go to a butcher. Same, i wouldn't ask tesco for the recomendation for a telly, I'd go to an independent stockist. I won't go to Halfords and ask for their advice. However, there are plenty of shoddy garages out there too that I wouldn't trust my car too either. However, by not training their staff, they pass the benefits onto me (who knows a little) by giving me cheap goods. I'm happy with that. If your a Mungo and need to ask for Halfords advice, your not likely to know whether its good or bad, and you can live in ignorance. Which, as we know, is bliss

Tbh ECP supply the Halfords AutoCentres with bits so you're best off going there or another factors, will be a helluva lot cheaper, £4 for a pack of two brake light bulbs or 70p each from Euro, daft not to

^^ ECP all the way.

My GF used to work at a baby products shop and she was properly trained on which baby seats fit in which cars and how they should be fitted to meet the required standards etc etc.

A customer came in one day and said she'd bought a baby seat from Halfords, that Halfords staff had recommended and had it fitted there, but she wasn't sure if they'd done it correctly and wanted it checking. My GF went out and had a look. The baby seat was completely the wrong sort for their car, was fitted incorrectly and was now where near safe to use.

Needless to say, NEVER get Halfords to choose and fit a baby seat for you

Uww bad! Is your booster seat that you purchased from there fitted correctly B-shaw? I know you cant see over the wheel without it so best check its right.

Their "fully trained staff" are usually quite the opposite. Fully retarded.

My girlfriend once went and got a bulb kit to replace the blown headlight on her mk2 golf. She picked up some H4 bulbs (funny that considering these are the type she needed), and when buying them the spotty idiot (and i mean seriously spotty) behind the counter started off on how she wanted H7 bulbs for a mk2. She said he must be mistaken because I told her before she went out to make sure she definately got H4's.

When she got back, the knobhead had only tried to charge her for a set of H7 bulbs which he fucked up by trying to force them into the golf! Needless to say, he was told where he could shove his H7 bulbs and invoice

retards...

Funniest when I had my seat leon, sidelight bulb had gone, they offered to fit it for free so was just like ok go ahead....

they couldnt work out that you had to remove the plastic cover on the back of the headlight. I made him stop when he was pulling on wires, was going to show him how to do it, but got in a bit of a knark as he was pulling the wires so just told him to jog on and I'l do it myself...

Do these places not get Mystery shoppers or anything?? Place I work is forever being shopped to make sure were ontop of our game. How the hell do these places keep going when It seems its a universal wide lack of common sense/knowledge/customer care...general hygiene... :ninja:

Apart from giving me a saab oil filter for my mk3 twice i have only had one huge issue with halfords

My parents bought me a new bike when i was 15, only one of the cheap apollo ones but it was perfect for what i wanted, they put it together and 2 hours later my mum drove me down the halfords to pick the bike up which i had to ride home. Its only a 25min bike ride but as soon as i got on it and tested it before mum payed the full amount i released that the brakes were not even connected luckily i wasnt going at any decent pace so managed to stop before i got mowed down in the car park. For this they said sorry and gave me a £30 bike accessory voucher to add to the £50 i already had from the deal. So mum payed up and we left for home i got less than 10mins from the shop while riding up a steep short hill the pedal fell off i smashed my face into the handlebars (haray for foam padding) and ended up rolling down a 15ft cliff steep bramble covered hill. I waited for my mum to get home (30mins) and phoned her to come get me with dad and the truck so we could take the bike back.

After taking the bike back they put the pedal back on and i set off again and made it home, later on i went to the park on my nice new bike but once i got there the front wheel had undone itself and the rear suspension had collapsed.

After many other small troubles we got a full compensation pay which was an independent rebuild and the initial cost of buying the bike and being a gobby litte S***e at the time i gave the halfords staff a 'friendly exit and buggered off never to return again

NEVER BUY A BIKE BUILT BY HALFORDS OR YOU RISK YOUR LIFE....i was lucky

(caps lock required :) )

I've got to say halfords bikes ... just no.

My parents paid £450 for a decent (i though) Bike years back

So , testing it out i wheelie across the garden and the forks fell off , luckily it was on grass and not hopping up a kurb or something. Two bolts at the bottom of the front strut where rounded and not even tightend. I also noticed the disk brake was missing a bolt.

The gears also had a mind of thier own , changed randomly had some fancy mechanism on it which was bollocks

So we went back , they serviced the bike free of charge.

I gave it a quick whirl in the car park only to see the front disk brake had been covered in grease , rear brake on. Why the fuck they covered the rear rim and front disk in grease i'll never no. So down with the feet and grind the bottom of my trainers I stopped before I hit the skip

Few years on , and after riding a different bike i went and brought a BMX from halfords , why i went there i'll never know Bike was too small for me anyway, waste of time bike was crap and again problems

i bought a dog gaurd from halfords, for my mums citroen c4 grand picasso, said it would fit any car and was fully adjustable, also said it had extendable sides. asked the guy if it would fit, showed him the car, he said "yeah no trouble" asked if it would keep two rotweilers and a collie back "yeah no trouble mate will be fine" so put it all up the dogs got in the guard fell over i drove back to hellfrauds and nearly threw it at him. then bought one off ebay cheaper better and with full instructions to boot.

Their wiper guard is lies. Bought a rear one for my old Megane (shhh it was great on fuel), didn't fit - not by a long way.

They tried to sell me the wrong Oil grade and oil filter, I just walked off. Seen them fit number plates wonky aswell.

Also got told some bad fitting advice for a mates clio (yeah its like 4 screws and the top of the dash comes out) actually it was 13 and numerous other things like A-pillar covers etc.

i have learnt who to speak to at my local halfords, a few of them are petrol heads, and i mean proper petrol heads, not ooo look at my sick ripspeed corsa ;)

unfortunately, that is the "petrolhead" at my local stores....

chavved up fezzbomb and clio's right in front of store, "so all dem bittchez can see what we iz runnin you get me"

shut up. :ninja:

Haha so true

I treat em all with contempt until they prove otherwise.

sold me a bulb which was epically wrong (2 core instead of one). didnt realise until i got pulled by a friendly copper.

Also went in to see about buying a new alloy & tyre. took the chimp 10mins to add the prices of the alloy and tyre together using pen, paper and the one braincell. had he had 2 cells, he'd have seen the calculator!

Halfords offer a fitting service for wiper blades too.

I'm sorry but if you can't fit wiper blades it's a wonder you can tie your own fucking shoelaces.

When was the last time you tied shoelaces?

Last time I did this was sadly for a friends funeral about 6 months ago, was re-tying them all the way to the church!

Chuffinggg! wiper blades! (only use Halfrauds in emergencies!)

Mk5 Ibiza ones ended up been the fiesta on the guide. Mk2 polo ones didn't fit.

Asked for HT leads and the guy took me to the stereo dept. Usless!
