I went in yesterday to get some speaker clips, I said to the bloke that sevred me 3 times "I Just need some clips to put on +/- of a Sub woffer" So he got me a wiring kit, Then i said to him again^^. So he came back with some speaker cable, Then finnaly he told me how to do it properly! Dumb ass! I felt like walking through the wall at that point.

What i have been tempted to do in the past is to ask for something that sounds like they should have it, but is something i just made up and then say that you'd seen it in another store a few weeks back and see what happens.

I've got to know some of the staff at my local Halfrauds who actually know their arse from their elbow and if they aren't working, i come back a different day.

i once bought a "warning switch" which was supposed to light up when you press the switch... turns out - they aren't even switches, they are just warning lights - yet they are STILL, to this day being advertised as switches (it was about 4 months back when i took the 'switch' back as being mis-advertised)

To be fair:

If you buy any bike from anywhere, for less than £200 new, it's going to be crap. There'll be some big compromises on equipment. They are commonly called Bike Shaped Objects (BSO).

The worst bikes are the cheap dual suspension ones. It just happens that Halfords sells quite a few BSOs!

However the Boardman branded bikes do have a good reputation.

I'm not going to get too high on my soap box having worked for Kwik Bodge, however i have lost count on the number of times I've refitted bulbs that Halfords have supposidly fitted. That and condemming wheel nuts that Halfords have supplied and fitted to alloy wheels. They also need reminding that Ripspeed filters do not do what they say they do. They just make your car run like crap and sound like crap. etc etc etc.......

I went to Halofrds once and asked them to fit a rear wiper for the luls. The chap did it no problem. I have nothing bad to say about them.

I know exactly what you meen. If i had a quid for every time my manager did that id be rich. The horrible thing is the Area Managers promotes that kind of sales technique. They tell you to do it. But like Halfords if you know the wright Kwik Fit they can be the most sound people for advise. They're just as rare as rocking horse poop.

One of the lads that worked at my place came in on his nice shiny new halfords bike he bought the night before. We left it a few hours so everyone for a chance to see it before letting him know his front folks were on the wrong way round

Halfords has just been voted the UK's worst shop with staff mostly being rude. I had to go there to get a new drive belt for the polo yesterday and the first one I went to the bloke that I spoke to was proper sound, he went out of his way to try and find one and when he couldn't he phoned around all the local stores to find one that did have one. The next store I went to to pick it up the bloke (turned out to be the manager) had a right fucking attitude on him

TBH, I've always found the staff to be ok. Its like anywhere, you will get good and bad staff. TBF, I doubt the staff at Halfords are actually trained to be rude. People on a car forum are always goinf to be critical of a substandard service from a 'motorfactor'.

However, if that is the case, the staff really ought to be trained to be able to do the job thats expected of them a little better. All that shit went out the door when profits became number one though. Having worked in a shop, which is all Halfords is now, I know the lack of training you get, and how your inability to answer questions makes you look like a idiot. It's a little unfair to lay into the staff, when really they are just doing their job. Good laugh though 'int it
