Woolys Red 9n: Ups n Downs!

Featured Replies

So this is a refreshed topic as my old one sort of tailed off with slow boring progress that lets be honest I only cared about. So as you can assume since had some bugger updates since then that i feel should be shown here.

So anyway I’ve spent the last 20minutes collecting the pics to make my “storyline” of my polo, which tbh has been a nightmare at times!!

So few deets before i start:

- Polo 9n SE

- Flash Red

- 1.4 SE (75BHP model)

Rather than list the mods you’ll just have to follow it along.

Okai, lets begin...

Got the car standard after passing at 17. Stayed standard for 6/7 months till I got a bit more cash tied up from working and becoming a single man. With new found void which needed filling and a wad of cash, I started focusing on the car. Inspired by Edition38 and my uncle Gary brant i thought best to go down the ‘euro’ scene.

So heres the car standard:[/size]

Few more mods came in: Fog lights, chrome grille and 9n3 rears:

4.jpg

5.jpg

Didn’t like the 9n3 rear red against the flash red so they went along with the grille for a debadged one:

6.jpg

6a.jpg

Didn’t have money to sort the notch so covered it with a bonnet bra. Wasn’t sure on that so after 4/5 months that went off as well.

6b.jpg

Then came the speaker upgrade and some pepperpots :)...and the finally the coilies!!

On the pots on holiday and a few at edition:

Now the pots went off and I went off to Sheffield university (with the car) and it stayed fine for my first year...BUT once moved into my student accommodation in august of 2011 a lorry somehow backed into my car :/ about £2200 of damage!!! Just cosmetic thank god!

This put me in a depressive state as i had to fork out £900 for the excess, so got a job at M&S and paid that off J!

So with a new bumper needed made sense to take it to Stylehaus and get Steve to do a job on the bumpers. Had some temporary fitted red c/c ones and unfortunately hit a pheasant on the way to getting my smoothed bumper...it was a fait but i still maintain i won the fight!! Heres the pic haha:

Fcr1.jpg

So dropped off the car and this how i picked it up and got it back to Sheff:

The bumpers were smoothed and the lower valances colour coded a few other pits got paint as well!

Queue smoothed bumper picture montage...

So smoothed off i then went about fitting the votex spoiler, Gave it a much more sporty look, reminded me of a 6n2gti spoiler but for the 9n J. Before and after:

Then came the wind deflectors:

Smart looking car! Well smart looking cars can attract the wrong people as well as the right and someone had ago at the lock with screw driver L

15.jpg

So this comes the end of part1 of the photos i have on my old phone, now lets see how to get the others off my iphone. Since have delocked the door handle but also some truck side vehicle ahs sideswiped it leaving a dent in the arch and door L

Also bought some wheels J along the way and will be going at some point when i renew insurance (june/july). That’s it for now. Drop me a comment or PM on your opinions or if you need any advice on how to dismantle a 9n interior etcetera.

Cheers,

Wooly!

How much was it to get the bumpers smoothed? Looks great

Looks perfect with the smooth bumpers

Cheers guys :-) Yer my fave bit of the car, although 4 months in and there stoned chipped to hell :/

And I know it's not that accurate but I think back and front would cost between £400 - £600.But not sure exactly as I got mine all in the Insurance fix.

9n3 should maybe cheaper as the work to smooth the 9n3 small strips is a lot less then it's just standard paint from there. Though the backs being the same are tricky as the number plate lights are fixed to the strip!

Cheers. Yer mate heres my tutorial i did: http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?...179573&hl=) :)

Tr edition38 as a guy was selling some noone bought. Or get a body shop quote.

Yer was annoying and i was gonna get a job lot done. he recent side swipe damage is £400 but i can get m front bumper, bonnet votex bits sprayed, then tailgate smoothed and strips for £600

Which i may. But £2300 to go on my own policy modded with brentacre this year plus need a holiday. FUNDS DEPENDENT

My flatmates no idea on the VW scene think i just like "smooth cars" was euro now just smooth!! ha

Update:

Havnt posted any pics of the most recent damage as annoying but not that messed up.

So delocked the drivers handle, after two hours of removing the wrong glued bolt, the company who sent the "picture instrcutions" said oh ours isnt the same as in the pic use this one ha. Got in on but i couldnt find my VW paint so used crappy halfords until i redo in the summer.

Then gave it a clean so heres a few pics:

Then few bits in the post...

....

IMG_0155.jpg

but will cost me £40ish to but all new mechanism so till i find a breaker this will take a back seat!

bit of mood lighting for the missus ;)..... bit chavvy!

IMG_0180.jpg

Then laminx, They came out alright and used LED bulbs/resitors from them which work okish in the sun but good on overcast days...also had the urge to see if i could do he side repeaters so i bought some LEDS and the were done too.

After my car getting dusty and due to the thickness of lamin x for a better finish i would definetly reccommend using tin spray!

And then finally I've been holding my merc rims back for a year, have tyres (not fitted) but now have the final piece of the puzzle.....

photo-6.jpg

20mm rears and 15 fronts :)

  • Author

Now impulsively bought some new wheels as were 5x100.

Dilemma as i now have merc wheels with adpaters and the audis. I also own a set of four tyres....

...do i put them on my audis or my mercs :doubt:

Audis sat next to (not fitted):

Without:

With:

what we thinking???

Cheers

Without!! Colour code door strips, White audi wheels! with VW centres' Majour poke! Angle eyes and your in for a win!

Loving the work so far!

Edited by LiamMk6Polo

lol Liams gonna jump on this :p but I quite like the votex splitter on there, the front bumper looks sweet smooth and sort of the splitter ties in with it to make the whole bumper look OEM. Sorry if that makes no sense but basically do it....or sell me the splitter ;) haha

ahaha you got it man! Buy it! Buy it! :p

  • Author

I've got some black angel eyes but decided to sell them on as i want to stray away from the 'red n black' theme, think theyd be too black anyway.

Cheers though got my audis and some secret coloured mercs to go on :)

Naa i get what you mean, the route I'm going down is more sport/clean/subtle luxury/classy haha make a genre out of those. But yer as its quite smooth now the whole kit would add a few more lines and deffo give he sportier look i want :)

plus i want the side skits on but would look strange with no other bits lol.

  • Author

strips will get colour coded evtually ha,

dont know whether to do them on he car...or buy new ones but ver expensive tbh!

Well its your car man. But i have to say if you put the kit on add the angle eye's!! make it look alot cleaner and sportier.

Update, Got the audis on :)

On temporary to get the ride height adjusted and until i can rubber my mercs and get them on and tracked. 2/3 weeks tops!

Bit sporty/chavvy looking but I've learned to like them haa...

photo2.jpg

photo1.jpg

photo3.jpg

Just put them on 2/3 hours before these so bit dirty and the suspension will come down :)

Opinions so far?

Liking it!! :p

Colour change to white :) ahaha

Love this red polo

Dilemma as i now have merc wheels with adpaters and the audis. I also own a set of four tyres....

What are these man! If you fancy getting rid PM me ;)

Car looks nice, not gunna lie when I first saw it with the smoothed bumpers i wasn't too keen, but its really grown on me.

  • Author

White would be good but I'm keeping them as hey are as cba and thses are gonna be more subtle winters,

And afraid I'm keeping them should be on soon :) and cheers yer alot being done to it hopefully end of summer ;)
