To cut a long story short , I've known this car for at least the last 12yrs and even done some work on it for the elderly previous keeper over the years , so when the guy hung his keys up and the car came up for sale I just couldn't say no . Its a 1991 1.0 spi , 4-spd , 61k . when I picked it up I suspect it hadn't been run for a while and on my way home it popped a gear linkage but that was no big deal It was a pleasure to drive .

Bad bits so far ....

*Gear linkage issues

*Needs wiper blades

*A few light scratches (think they'll polish out though)

*Bit of rust on the drivers door

*A lot of rust on the N/S wing

Opinions welcome

Well after spending a bit of time on it today I discovered that the gearbox mounting was missing a nut and washer !! And that was causing the gear linkage to pop apart , so fixed that and it drives perfect now

What's the plan with this one then? Keep it original? Mad track beast?

I had a bit of a mess around with it over the weekend and discovered that the lower gearbox mount was to blame for the linkage popping apart , the bracket from the back of the box was not attached to the rubber on the floor of the car , the bolt was still there but it seems the nut and washer attaching it all was missing , so will be sorting that this week . I haven't got any major plans yet just got some golf GTi front seats and a set of original zolder vw alloys to go on too . B)
