I put v power in last night and felt loads better than it did at pod on momentum. £65 to fill up mind

I always found the first time i ran some v-power on a car that had never seen anything other than 95 there was a big difference - not so the second tank.

Always ran it though as was normally sporting a charger of some kind where det is the enemy.

Used to run V-power or tesco 99 on tuned cars.

Not really required, but as i get tesco 99 at the same price as standard (dont ask how - nothing untoward) once the afh goes in ill be running on 99 most of the time.

Ill recommend everyone to run a tank of v-power at least once but thats all really.

With the added benifits of the valve-cleaning properties of V-Power and the rewards card bonusses, its a no-brainer in my opinion.

Surprized no one metioned this earlier, but always run mine on v-power for this reason, or bp ultimate if shell has run dry.

as i said, i chucked some tesco momentum in last night,

on nomal fuel i usually see about 50 miles to £10

have driven about 20-25 miles with this including the occasional bit of throttle and i still have loads of fuel left! think I'm gonna use it more often lol

Different times of years, areas and such you get different fuels.

You get a "litre" but it's additives and such.

For example diesel have additives to stop it going gloopy in the cold over winter periods, each litre your losing some petrol or diesel as it's being replaced with something else :)

Iv always used v-power in my GTI, deffinitely alot smoother and get alot extra range from it! In terms of gains, you wont notice it on one or two tanks, but after a period of filling up with it theres a noticeable difference, I work at a shell station still no discount though :(

You will always go further on V-Power.

......it gives around a 7% increase in power and if driven the same as before will give significantly better economy.

How have you measured the power and economy increase?

Granted its not exact but I know it's between 5 and 10. from comparing it to certain modifications.

I rolling-roaded my Mk2 on V-power with a DMTL using V-Power and got 70bhp, thats significantly more than people usually get. Not conclusive I know but..

Economy wise I got 58mpg with my 1 litre driving at 55mph constantly for around 500 miles (to get a gearbox!) using V Power. Not sure what VW quoted for absolute optimum cruise economy but I pretty sure it wont top that!

When I bought my GTi, the guy proudly gave me ALL his receipts for the Shell V-Power fuel that he'd put in it.

He'd owned it for something like 5 years and only run it on that.

Since I've had it, I've just put standard unleaded in and it runs just fine. I'm sure there is a sticker on my filler cap that says it will take both.

The engine is extremely smooth running at the moment, I could put it down to the V-Power fuel but I run put it down to only having done 64k. I will have a go with a full tank of higher octane fuel at some point and see what I think in terms of mileage and performance.

The thing is, unless someone actually tries a specific car on a rolling road with the 2 different fuels, you're never gonna know.

I used to run my old Peaugot 309 GTi on v-power and standard, and to be honest, it was equally mental on either fuel.

I do remember though, running my MK2 Jetta on unleaded and 4 Star and that made a huge difference. Unleaded made it run kind of roughish and quite nippy. 4 Star made it run very smooth but always seemed a little slower. I used to compare it to the difference between smoking a normal cigarette (unleaded) and a roll up (4 star).

Mainly I used to alternate between the two and refill when I had about quarter of a tank left.

Not sure if mixing 95 & 98 fuel would be a good compromise.

I put Tesco Momentum in the 3 tanks of mine and I'm pretty sure it hated it. Fuel economy dropped by about 5-10 mpg and it idled about 1200 rpm. Wasn't driving it any differently and it's been serviced recently too.

Changed to V-power for the last two tanks and it's gone the opposite way. Economy is better and it idles a bit lower than normal too.

Seemed to be a bit more powerful on both fuels but i know which one i am using from now on!

Just put a tank of BP Ultimate in my GTi. So far, I can't tell any difference. I'll report more on economy when I've finished the tank.

From reading things on the net, there are a lot more additives in the higher RON fuel so it cleans the injectors out better.

Majority of things I've read about the better Diesel is that it does very little to performance, but it a lot cleaner to run producing much less soot and cleaning injectors better.

I can't see that you would get many gains running a mid-performance engine on it.

Put a tank or two through every month or two as a clear out, then on 95 the rest of the time. TBH what you'll gain in economy you'll lose out on in extra fuel cost anyway.

Unless your car's been mapped or had the timing set up on super I can't see what difference it'd make. Certainly not full number horsepower gains.

Mind you I was skeptical about supermarket vs main supplier fuels, and my standard Passat engine was happier on Shell stuff. Slightly different though.
