A second car, for work travelling/abuse

Featured Replies

Yo,

Considering buying a second car, to use for work and stuff,

Be doing 50 miles a day, so a small diesel will probably be good.

Dont really wanna spend over £1000 on a car.

Even something like a Polo Estate maybe good, could be practical.

Got a quote on a 1.5 TD Clio (2004) for £1300 with no NCB (they're on my polo policy :( )

So needs to be cheap, reliable, good MPG.

Not really fussed on potential for modding and stuff like that, be nice just to have a car to jump in and go places, park it up without worrying and stuff.

Also be nice to build up NCB on another policy.

Funnily enough, that quote of £1300, with 3 years NCB, it only brought it down to £1000!

Recommend!

Thanks

I wouldn't have 2 6ns, want something different haha, a different style dash to stare at whilst sat in traffic and such

Passat?

I want to do this too, but I'm gunna try and save for a polo 9ntdi :)

50 miles a day aint much, what a waste of pennies! lol

get a 1.3 mk3 or mk2!

For 12k (50 miles a day 5 days a week) a year do you need a second car with good MPG. By the time you buy it, insure it and keep it road worthy you could be spunking a bit of money.

Well depends if I work weekends and such too, plus I don't wanna put shit loads of miles on my "nice" car tbh, be nice just to have a car I can use and abuse, like lots of people have.

The amount I'm working atm i could buy and insure a car with 2 weeks wages

Fair enough, i can't say much having 4 cars. The best bit of having a second car is so you can work on a car at the weekend and not shit yourself Sunday evening if its not finished.

Eric he said reliable

ill sell you a bag of shit breadvan for a couple hundred?

decent MPG...

uncomfortable to fuck and loads of room in the back for polo parts

Good idea guy, I'll set off now for work at 6 I guess :)

And exactly, may be able to do more exciting mods to car without worrying too (:

I dunno, shall have to see!

Just a little diesel would be nice; you seem to be able to rape them and get good economy haha

Eric your car broke three times in one day last weekend

I agree, my GT returns good mpg even when driven in anger and on the twists it does make you work for your reward!

My mate just bought the most immaculate sierra lx in black fsh from new for £600. Utter bargain i thought, rear steer and mint, you'd struggle to get a polo gt for that money due to scene tax and this was a lot more car!

I saw a polo 6N2 TDI the other day. Were these available in uk anyone know? I like the idea of a 9N TDI, but they're soo panda face ugly!

It's only a polo, Just use it daily.

Think about 2 lots of road tax, 2 lots of fuel at current prices, 2 lots of tyres when it needs some.

It's a expensive old ordeal. You'd need something nice and special to blow your hair off to warrant a second car in my opinion.

Save your money and blow it on women and beer!

yeah, you dont want a nice tdi that is faster than your polo... its pointless LOL

It's only money....you can't take it with you haha.

A lot of people at my work have second cars for work.

Tax is like £30 on some small diesels, tyres? Arnt a regular thing are they lol.

Ha blow me arris. Found the reason for it being so slow was that some douche had adjusted the pump at some point but adjusted it the wrong way :retard:

All sorted now and drives lovely

Don't go expecting these mythical mpg figures that people keep spouting tho, never in any of my smokers have I noticed a decent drop in running costs over petrol's. I was putting more fuel in the focus each week doing the same kind of mileage than I was with the polo

polo 6n2 tdi or lupo/arosa sdi?

Newer diesels are £30, some free. Not sure about a polo estate from 15 year ago

Tyres, maybe not. Just saying in general car maintenance. I go through tyres quite abit at 230 quid a corner :crybaby:
